The Role:
Demonstrate breadth in applying skills to different project phases and working knowledge / experience in other related disciplines.
Resolves highly complex technical issues and provides technical assurance in areas of discipline expertise. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Typically reports to supervisor or manager.
Reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for ensuring that the technical content and integrity of the EXECUTE phase design deliverables comply with the requirements of Company's Project Standards, Guides and VIP's and those of any applicable contracts
The position is based in the contractor office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with expected, possibly frequent travel to the fabrication yard in Singapore and fabrication facility.
Early morning or late night teleconferences with the Houston based team will be required on a weekly basis.
Actively drive the Contractor performance through constant engagement, coaching, oversight and leadership
Review reports and other technical deliverables to ensure compliance to applicable specifications, seeking TA and SME guidance, approvals and derogations as required
Responsible for approving all of contractor's EXECUTE deliverables for which they are technically qualified
Responsible to produce or update any EXECUTE deliverable for which they are technically qualified
Manage PCAP and TA approval process for those technical deliverables requiring such
Respond to queries from the Contractor in a timely and thorough manner
Track and Report the Contractor's progress against cost and schedule
Ensure that the work of the Contractor's discipline engineers is implemented, giving full consideration to applicable standards and practices relating to safety, environment, operability, efficiency and maintainability all in accordance with the contract and within the target manhour budget, cost and schedule
Ensure that the project quality and technical integrity requirements are met through the appropriate use of expertise of Company's Delivery Groups specialist engineers and service agreements
Ensure that the project technical solution, specifically the FPSO structural modifications, meet the required company's specifications
Assess the competence levels of the Contractor's discipline engineers and ensure that any identified deficiencies are addressed accordingly
Participate in HAZID/HAZOP activities and other review processes/meetings
Manage the technical interface with the Company Site Team at the fabrication yard in Singapore, including answering queries, resolving issues and conflicts, and managing overall technical assurance responsibility at the yard
Ensure that the Project Manager is kept fully informed of the technical aspects of the work, potential problem areas and their solution, highlighting significant deviations from plans and providing proposals for remedial actions
Establish a structured selective review process with the engineering contractor for application to critical elements of the project designs for all disciplines
Ensure that all work is adequately documented and recorded ready for handover to operations
Ensure that working procedures are developed to define a safe system of work with due consideration of inherent safety
Monitor the production by the Engineering Contractor of the BDP and BDEP covering the Process Plants, Utilities, General Facilities and Infrastructure

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Requires minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and may have an advanced degree and/or 10-15 years of experience in applying the discipline skill(s) to oil gas projects.
Familiar with most of discipline's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of complicated tasks while effectively managing the interfaces.
May lead and direct the work of others.
