The Role:
Our client in Houston is seeking an experienced seismic interpreter with strong stratigraphic and structural interpretation background and a minimum of 8 years of relevant oil and gas knowledge developed through a major oil and gas operator. This position will be a high visibility role in the Chissonga deep-water development team based in our Houston office.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Seismic interpretation support for an integrated sub-surface Team for Maersk Oil’s first operated deep-water development project
• Support detailed seismic mapping of deep-water reservoir architecture and hydrocarbon distribution for input to 3D geological models. Include generation of concepts for reservoir environment of deposition and reservoir connectivity
• Contribute to well planning for an upcoming development drilling program
• Technical development and mentoring of less experienced geoscientists
• Support Maersk Oil’s technical standards and workflows
• Interface with other disciplines and partners.

Role Dimensions

• Houston Base with minimum travel to Copenhagen and Luanda (Less than 10%)
• This position will not require relocation

Primary Interfaces

• Interface with other disciplines and partners.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A minimum of 8 years oil industry experience with advanced structural and stratigraphic 3D seismic interpretation skills
• Must have West Africa Experience
• Extensive experience with seismic stratigraphic mapping and seismic volume interpretation of turbidite reservoirs at development scale
• Seismic interpretation of AVO driven plays
• Integration of geophysical data with geological concepts, petrophysics and engineering information (preferably using Petrel software)
• Provision of data for static geological model construction in a multi-disciplinary development team
• Relevant technical Degree of BSc. level as a minimum, MSc. level or higher is preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

• Integration of rock physics information, quantitative interpretation and inversion data for reservoir characterization
• Experience of seismic data acquisition and processing
