The Role:
Purpose

This position will serve as a Senior Network Specialist in the Petroleum Global Network Services team. The Senior Network Specialist will provide technical supervision to work teams comprised of various skill levels, in addition to being the team’s technical escalation point. The successful candidate must be able to work with global stakeholders to gather and document their requirements definition, design, engineering and deployment across a variety of network technologies. When serving as lead, this individual will manage expectations within the assigned project scope of work, and be accountable for the end to end delivery of the Network service/projects. The ability to effectively communicate and operate in a multi-functional, multi-vendor role will be highly utilized.

This position will require global enterprise level network experience in an Oil and Gas industry. While having enterprise experience is required, it is essential to have strong experience in the design and operation of process control networks, SCADA network interfaces and general telecommunications systems.

Responsibilities
• Primary technical responsibilities will consist of providing technical governance and solutions in a majority of the following areas: Cisco hardware and software technologies including LAN, WAN, WLAN; Nexus, UCS, Cisco Voice and Unified Communications, MPLS, general telecommunications, ASA physical and virtual firewalls, RiverBed technologies (network optimization SteelHead & Cascade analysis), F5 Load Balancers, SolarWinds Monitoring.
• This position is a combination of 25% operations and 75% project work. Direct interface with customers and outsourced service partners is required on a daily basis.
• Additional responsibilities will include documentation, improving network operations efficiencies and working to improve network security.
• Role will be accountable for development and delivery of network technical roadmaps and network technical standards.
• Technical Lead for global, data center, process control networks and SCADA network infrastructure
• Maintains relationships with external service providers; information technology, hardware and software vendors as well as with the internal Petroleum IM team.
• Support Global network services supervisor with initiatives for removing support complexity and cost
• Acts as the back-up to the Global Network Services Supervisor
• Review project plans to plan and coordinate network tasks and activities
• Stay up-to-date of advances in network technology.
• Maintains alignment with key business drivers and the IM Strategy.
• Develop and interpret organizational goals, policies and procedures.
• Participate in the transformation of processes and systems to cloud infrastructure, key participation other special projects as needed.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience and qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related field
• Cisco Certification; CCNP, CCIE, CCDP
• 15+years of network engineering in designing, configuration and installation, 5 of which in a senior role
• Must have at least 10 years supporting network services in an enterprise environment (7x24x365) – Ops side – experience running global network – (incident service management, incident service request, change management)
• Experience in design, implementation, and troubleshooting of complex enterprise networks, including data center networks, campus, remote office, process control and SCADA network infrastructure
• Expert experience working with Access Control List (ACLs), TCP/IP, VLAN, Port Security, Traffic shaping, Priority Queuing, Class of Services (CoS), Quality of Services (QoS) and IP routing.
• Expert proficiency of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
• Strong Cisco ASA Firewall (physical and virtual) security experience is a plus
