The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
My client is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer who will report directly to the UK Supply Chain Manager, The role will focus primarily on the coordination and approach towards suppliers for a given range of commodities.

Specific responsibilities and duties associated with the position include:
• Participate in tender negotiations and preparation of pre contract documentation with potential key suppliers during the tendering phase
• Coordination of / and reviewing subsequent quotations for those commodities under your remit
• The preparation and distribution of sourcing proposals for any given tender and/or project for those commodities
• Evaluation of market, industry and commodity trends
• Identify best practice techniques for those commodities
• Drafting of subcontract agreements to meet the demands of the business
• Undertake and lead risk review analysis for any given commodity
• Provide statistical information as and when required

Additional responsibilities to support the Supply Chain Manager in their role will include:
• Placement of purchase orders and subsequent timely delivery in line with company procedures
• Execute all supply chain management activities in accordance with the supply chain management procedures
• Actively seek continuous improvement and identify appropriate KPI's for suppliers and forward to the Supply Chain Manager
• Negotiate final prices with suppliers
• Managing the flow of information between suppliers ensuring that information is issued/received timely to support design and delivery of the programme
• Expediting information from suppliers as directed and requested by other departments
• Attend regular project meetings producing the appropriate reports advising spend against budget
• Produce and issue reports as required by the Supply Chain Manager or other end users (following agreement and review with the Supply Chain Manager)
• Organise deliveries as appropriate with Project Manager/Site Manager

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Relevant mechanical qualification
• CIPS
• A proven track record of benefits delivery through the application of strategic sourcing techniques
• Experience in supporting negotiating teams and applying appropriate fact-based tactics and techniques to achieve optimal outcomes
• Good communication skills
• Good team working ability
• Good understanding of contract negotiations and contract law
• A proven track record in working in a manufacturing environment
