The Role:
• Support the Lead Engineer in department activities.
• Production of cost effective Structural engineering reports, documents and deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and design books in conjunction with other members of the project team in a timely and efficient manner.
Supervisory and Managerial Duties: Supervision of assigned discipline personnel.
• Give technical direction and guidance to design personnel

Main Duties:
• Execute engineering activities (Concept, FEED, Technical Study & Detailed Design), under the guidance of the Lead/ Senior Engineer
• Ensure that work output complies with the relevant procedures
• Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned staff as required
• Ensure as far as practically possible all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
• Keep up-to-date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline
• Review work/work output of discipline assigned staff as required
• Prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules
• Ensure that results of any development work are fully utilised in discipline activities
• Participate as necessary in discussions with Client and visit jobsites when necessary
• Assist the Lead or Senior Discipline Engineer when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties

Health and Safety Responsibilities:
• Shall take into account all aspects of the “Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)”,
• Knowledge of, compliance with and promotion of office, site and contract/project health and safety guidelines and procedures.
• Comply with the client Safety Management System
• Take part and contribute to construction risk assessments and construction method statements
• Take into account all relevant procedures, guidance etc. relating to the work, which will ensure compliance with client Safety Management System

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in structural engineering or a related discipline

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
Sound knowledge of structural engineering principles and the ability to reflect these in various engineering projects from concept to detailed design.
Knowledge & practical application of some or all of the following engineering topics:
• Greenfield & Brownfield Topsides modifications
• Use of STAAD analysis package
• BOSIET Offshore survival certification
• Current engineering design codes including AISC

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering awareness preferably in offshore engineering or alternatively in the petrochemical industry.
• Relevant experience should be in the development of a sound knowledge of structural engineering principles and the ability to reflect these in engineering projects from conceptual to detailed engineering stages.

• Capable of representing the client and Client to business associates in a professional manner
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Team player
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications
• Displays confidence in own abilities and is motivated to deliver
• Ability to investigate and interpret data
• Ability to be responsive and open to changing circumstances
