The Company:
Our client is an international oil and gas exploration and production company.

The Role:
The Structural TA supports the engineering function in both operations support and facilities engineering. He or she promotes a professional attitude and sets the standards for the discipline. The Structural TA provide support in the structural and civil disciplines.


Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, he/she will be required to:
• Act as technical authority for structural engineering related activities.
• Ensure adequate discipline standards and procedures are in-place for the development of new facilities and for the assessment of existing facilities.
• Act as the focal point for assigned structural engineering activities
• Provide technical support to offshore projects in the structural discipline. Minimal civil and naval architecture input will also be required.
• Provide input through all phases of project development including feasibility and concept, FEED, detailed design and fabrication / installation.
• Attend offshore locations and other onshore locations for surveys etc.
• Carry out technical management of third party work in concept design, FEED, detailed design and execution, to include preparation of design basis, SOW and engineering reviews to ensure the work is carried out in accordance with Company engineering, quality and safety requirements.
• Liaise with other Company departments, e.g. Construction, Operations, Safety etc .
• Actively contribute to personal, departmental and organizational goals.
• Produce ad-hoc reports, studies, calculations and assessments relating to structural and civil discipline activities.
• Monitor international codes and code compliance. Keep abreast of changes and communicate these within OPQL where required.
• Promote the development and compilation of facilities technical information.
• Participate in the Management of Change screening meetings.
• Provide mentoring to less experienced team members and Qatari Developees.
• Ensure that inherent safety in design is maintained. Help to foster a good safety culture within facilities engineering group.

Professional/Technical Knowledge:
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the full project cycle from concept development through to installation.
• Experience in engineering for construction, loadout, transportation, lifting, installation, in-place and fatigue.
• Understanding of offshore metocean and geotechnical requirements is required.
• Working knowledge of international design and fabrication codes, APIRP2A, AISC, AWS D1.1.
• Familiar with structural engineering software (SACS, STAAD PRO).
• Understanding of the inspection requirements for asset integrity assessments of offshore structures.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the design and construction requirements for brownfield activities including the requirements for integrity assessments and global structural re-assessments of existing platforms.
• An understanding of APIRP2SIM or other structural integrity management systems is required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
A Minimum 15 years offshore structural engineering experience to include design, fabrication and offshore installation experience. Some Client / Operator project experience is preferred.

Professional/Technical Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:
A Chartered engineer is preferred for this position.

B.Sc. degree or equivalent in Civil, Structural, Marine or Naval Architecture is preferred. Lesser qualified candidates with extensive/relevant experience in lieu of a B.Sc may be considered
