The Role:
Our Client, a leading international EPC Contracting Company if the Oil & Gas industry have an opportunity available for an Offshore Structural Design Lead with their team in the UAE. The successful candidate will manage a team of specialists including engineers, designers and draughtsmen for the completion of offshore Structural activities.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Analyse the technical documents (specifications, calculation notes, drawings, etc.) in order to assess the scope of the studies required and the potential risks.
• Set up and issue the necessary clarification requests during the proposal phase as well as the qualifications included in the bid.
• Estimate quantities or validate estimation done by other specialists within the team.
• Estimate the budget required for the studies completion
• Set up the schedule of the execution studies and the associated plan for resources mobilization
• Analyse the project technical documents in order to validate consistency between the budget, resources and means allocated for the work completion and the targets to be met for Project Execution.
• Make the Project Engineering Manager aware of the modifications or anticipated difficulties in meeting Client requirements.
• Identify project hot spots, criticalities and activity priorities.
• Organise the work of the team and write the project procedures for the execution and control of the structural studies.
• Define and follow-up the planning of resources mobilization.
• Write or supervise the writing of the Structural Design Brief (the technical roadmap for the discipline engineering activities).
• Co-ordinate the engineering activities of the team members throughout the project with a focus on optimisation of quality, costs and schedule criteria.
• Manage the different interfaces by co-ordinating the activities of the team with all other stakeholders on the project (other engineering disciplines, project team, working sites, construction, installation, etc.)
• Control the input data for the team activities and check/review all the documents issued by the team
• Supervise the writing of specifications and requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Inform the Project Engineering Manager and if required the Project Manager of any foreseen technical or financial or delay risk.

Key Skills / Attributes required:
• Degree qualified
• Chartered Engineer status is desirable but not essential
• Previous Middle East experience is very highly desirable
• Minimum of 8 years experience in Structural design from the oil & gas industry (minimum 3 years offshore structural design experience)
• Proven leadership / team management skills
• Previous budget & resource management experience
• Planning and bid evaluation experience
• Personnel planning and coordination experience
• Fully pc literate and proficient in the latest structural design software
• A flexible approach to work
• Good problem solving, organisational, communication, and operational skills
