The Company:
An Oil and Gas operating company with global assets are looking for a Structural Technical Authority to work across their North Sea Assets. The company is looking to develop their portfolio in the UK and the Structural Technical Authority with lead all structural engineering activities in this exciting development.

The Role:
The Structural Technical Authority will provide specialist technical support for all Structural Engineering work across all North Sea assets and ensures technical decisions are in line with best practice, legislation and meet corporate Standards and Guidelines. The Structural Technical Authority will also provide support to the Integrity Department, where required, with respect to planning, budgeting and reporting for the Asset, Operations and Maintenance teams, Integrity & Inspection Engineers and the Asset Technical Assistants.

As a Structural Technical Authority your main duties will involve:

• Developing discipline specifications for the asset structures.
• Providing engineering assurance and guidance to support asset operations and requests for deviations or exemptions to established specifications, standards and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance for the development and optimisation of performance standards.
• Maintain a sound working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards and regulations. Coach and mentor relevant engineers.
• Acting as Lifting Operations Technical Authority being familiar with LOLER.
• Contract focal point for structural integrity management, and deputise as Asset Integrity Team Leader, as required.
• Advise Management with regards to activities impacting on Structural Integrity, overview planning, budgeting and preparation and communication of the quarterly and annual Structural Integrity review reports.
• Providing proactive technical support for both Greenfield & Brownfield projects.
• Ensuring material failure investigations and root cause analysis are carried out where necessary and that any implications with respect to structural integrity are communicated to Management.
• Ensuring the continuing technical competence of all personnel associated with the structural integrity.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status preferable
• In depth knowledge of relevant legislation (particularly PSSR and PED)
• Commitment to Safety improvement and best practice.
• A Proven track record in sub-contractor management.
