Job Title: Subject Matter Expert - Instrument Design
Job Location: South West
Rate/Salary: Negotiable
Benefits: Pension, Health, Dental

The Company:
Our client, an Instrument & Control service provider to the Nuclear and Defence Industry is currently looking for experienced Instrument & Control Design Engineers to join their I&C team in the South West.

The Role:
A significant part of their business arises from having expert knowledge of the design, performance testing and through life maintenance of protection instrumentation utilised around a nuclear power plant reactor core. With respect to the current UK operational reactors, this expertise is unique to the area and has developed over many years because of the group’s role in developing such systems from the early stages of the UK’s nuclear generation programme. The expertise traditionally has been passed on from expert to expert through involvement in various projects.

With the demands to maintain the current UK nuclear fleet and UK plans to undertake an extensive programme of construction of new nuclear plant, this expertise remains highly relevant and an important knowledge area. The intention is to use this ‘UK Centric’ knowledge as a platform from which to address such opportunities in the UK and overseas. As such the post holder will bring a core skill that can support historical systems whilst creating a capability to deliver solutions to future systems. The job holder will be expected to provide technical direction and authority to our work in this area both individually and through support given to less experienced staff.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
All applicants will need to pass DV clearance so ideally will already be DV cleared or a minimum of SC cleared.
