The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Job Overviw:
•Assist the Subsea Lead Controls Engineer with project related subsea controls activities through project execution (including detailed design, factory acceptance testing and systems integration testing) and offshore commissioning

The Role:
Technically represent Company through over-sight of subsea specialist EPC contractor executing the design, fabrication and verification testing of the subsea control system. Specific job duties / responsibilities include:
•Promote safety in all project aspects of subsea equipment design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation and operations.
•Provide oversight to ensure EPC contractor’s and vendor’s equipment and associated documentation are in alignment / compliance with subsea controls related philosophies & project specific design documents and drawings defining job specification requirements.
•Liaison with Project Teams, Function Teams (e.g. Drilling, Reservoir, Flow Assurance, Materials and Operations) with procedure reviews and assistance in operator training programs.
•Participate in design and risk assessment reviews - HAZOPs, HAZIDs and risk assessments and verify related risk and reliability issues are effectively stewarded and fully closed out.
•Interface with EMDC 3rd party QA/QC to ensure that subsea hardware quality requirements and control system functionality and operability are met.
•Support project onshore and offshore testing / installation activities – Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Systems Integration Testing (SIT), mechanical / pre-commissioning, installation and commissioning, and start-up. Work in conjunction with vendors to address project related issues by performing necessary troubleshooting / coordinating internal Company efforts.
•Work will require international travel to EPC contractor and Vendor’s engineering and fabrication work sites.
•Work will likely include offshore trips to host platform to support Platform Installation Engineers during subsea equipment installation campaign, including associated hook-up / commissioning activities.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•Minimum 3 years of subsea controls related experience desirable.
•Relevant experience in subsea production and injection control systems from preliminary engineering through detailed design, project experience strongly preferred.
•Experience in the design, installation and testing of subsea controls system. Experience with the following equipment is desirable: Master Control Station (MCS), Electrical Power Unit (EPU), Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU), Subsea Distribution Unit (SDU), Subsea Control Module (SCM), instrumentation and well workover systems (IWOCS).
•Working knowledge of control systems, including software, communication methods, and electrical and hydraulic distribution.
•Familiar with subsea and topside controls associated interfaces, including Distributed Control System (DCS) / Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
•Familiarity with API 17 E/F and ISO 13628-5/6 subsea controls and umbilical standards and supporting practices / codes.
