The Role:
Located in the Builders shipyard in Korea the candidate will work as part of a multi-discipline team engaged in the detail design phase of FLNG facility with the principal task of ensuring the Naval Architecture engineering aspects of the Substructure meets Project requirements. The position will require the management of detail project engineering processes, identifying risks, liasing with the home office based Paris and London to support the technical assurance process. The candidates' expertise and knowledge of all aspects of Naval Architecture for Substructure construction, operation and design of Oil and LNG Shipping and Offshore Floating Stuctures will be extensively utilised. The role will support the project in achieving the most cost effective solution with highest possible quality and within project schedule requirements. The position will require liaison with shipyard designers, vendors, regulatory agencies, other project discipline groups both within the substructure team and within the broader engineering team for the total FLNG facilities and take accountability as defined by the Technical Assurance Plan.

With the detail design of the substructure in Korea and the major deliverable review carried out for substructure in London and Process/Topsides focal points Paris the principal accountabilities for the position will be to ensure effective co-ordination and quality of the detailed engineering deliverables, facilitating the Contractors design development and to ensure Project requirements are being met. The candidate will also undertake deliverable review as agreed with the London office and the Substructure Technical Manager.
Engage with the Contractors engineers and review design development processes, undertake document review, visits to vendors and when required attend tests and trials for the detailed engineering phase of the project.
Follow project process and interpret legislative requirements within the HSE control framework and Technical Assurance Plan.
Ensure that the design of the FLNG for Naval Architecture is in accordance with the Group Safety, operability and reliability policies.
Promote high safety standards in all activities by example and maintain Group HSSE policies.

Close liason with the Contractor will be required along with management of the Naval Architecture discipline technical assurance. The opportunity will be given to develop project engineering skills through delivery of results through others, mentoring, stakeholder engagement and working in a multi discipline and cultural diverse environment. For the suitable candidate the role has the potential to develop into management of Substructure inspection staff during the contruction and commisioning of the Substructure.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent.
•Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the Oil & Gas business with a thorough knowledge of major Marine Floating projects covering Shipping and Offshore Floating Assets. Experience on tankers and gas carrier specification and the approval process is essential and experience in repair is also required.
•Experience of working in a shipyard environment in either a design or repair capacity.
•The position requires a sound technical and operational knowledge of Naval Architecture practice for major Shipbuilding projects including LNGC Membrane contruction methods, Oil and Gas Regulatory and Classification aspects.
•Excellent track record in delivering or participating in Engineering designs for Offshore and Shipping projects.
