The Role:
Technical Authority responsible for the integrity, development and leadership of the relevant Engineering/Design Discipline and advice on the effective co-ordination of all discipline resources
To carry out professional engineering activities in a highly competent and efficient manner and ensure that the technical and safety integrity of the engineering is maintained while completing the tasks within allocated time
This role will normally be part time corporate role in conjunction with billable project work, likely as Lead Engineer
Design Authority accountable for approval of all discipline technical documentation. This Design Authority is delegated to the project Lead Engineer, as per organisation chart, for project technical deliverables
Approval of deviations to corporate, national and international codes/standards including interpretation of same.
Technical Authority responsible for the integrity of the relevant discipline Procedures and Processes
Accountable for the technical quality and integrity of the work carried out by the discipline group
Pro-actively identify methods for increasing efficiency
Provide guidance in technical matters and ensure that the disciplines are aware of and are working to current engineering standards and procedures
Provide guidance to the Discipline Engineers, Designers, Graduates and Trainees
Provide assistance in identifying the relevant Discipline Engineering/Design resources
Assist Project Resources Manager in optimising the deployment of engineering skills/resources across projects
Promote a learning and development culture within the Engineering function. Ensure that appropriate guidance on training is provided to Engineers in support of individual development plans
Ensure lessons learned are captured and shared for future
Keep abreast of industry and legislative developments
Provide guidance to the Structured Development Programme with the aim of gaining correct experience to attain I Eng or C Eng status
Provide assistance in the appraisal process for the relevant engineering discipline
Demonstrable technical expertise within the relevant discipline
Sound working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
Conversant with appropriate technical software
Aware of latest technical developments
Ability to estimate, plan & execute work effectively
Degree and Chartered Engineer preferred or demonstrable years experience with HNC/HND and Incorporated Engineer preferred
Previous experience in managing an engineering discipline preferred
Experience in mentoring graduate engineers preferred
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Effective management and development of discipline resources including graduates and trainees
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Good team working skills
Pro-active attitude and self motivated
Communicate effectively within the organisation and with clients
Willing to act as Mentor
Must be Eligible to Work Within the UK

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Current Offshore Survival Certificate.
Current Offshore Medical Certificate.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to HNC/HND or degree level in engineering and either Chartered or Incorporated Engineer preferred(see experience below)
Associate or Member of Professional Engineering Institute preferred
Associate or Member of Professional Engineering Institute preferred
Fellow of Professional Engineering Institute preferred
In depth understanding of the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry
Degree and Chartered Engineer preferred or demonstrable years experience with HNC/HND and Incorporated Engineer preferred
Previous experience in managing an engineering discipline preferred
Experience in mentoring graduate engineers preferred
