The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Main Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of this role is the management and leadership of the assigned parts / suppliers to ensure the Company Purchasing function objectives for new product introduction (through the required product emergence deliverables) and series current model are achieved.
This is to be achieved through :-

1. The deployment and use of KTM way of working.
2. Coordinate critical supplier preparation, monitoring from nomination through to start of series production to end of life.
3. Support Purchase Commodity Managers in their strategic and tactical activities.

The secondary goal is to achieve best practice in terms of Purchasing delivery whilst influencing the wider business in support of Company Key Goals.

Scope of the Role

Production Readiness and Tooling management process

a. Ensure KTM way of working is adhered to.
b. Assist suppliers with manufacturing feasibility, process planning, capacity planning, facilities preparation and sub-supplier preparation.
c. Work with suppliers to maintain and achieve progress through to Note 1 parts in line with project schedules
d. Determine and confirm suppliers’ actual installed production capacity and facility utilisation meets current and future demand.
e. Use of Overall Equipment Effectiveness metric to identify equipment improvement opportunities.
f. Develop KTM, Production Readiness and Tooling methodology.


a. Provide technical and project management skills to Purchasing department.
b. Continue to develop skills and knowledge in their area of work using a range of activities including on the job training.
c. Analyse problems, consider relevant information and solve problems in a logical way.
d. To reduce, or maintain, lead times of parts through regular contact with suppliers.
e. Tooling re-location as a result of insolvency or global sourcing.
f. To identify cost effective tooling routes.
g. Maintain Tooling identification and inventory.
h. Share learning and skills with other Company associates and suppliers.

Continuous Improvement and Quality Tools

a. Apply Lean Principles to drive improvement in supplier quality, cost and timing.
b. Use Continuous improvement tools 5’s, Quick Change Over, Visual Factory, etc. to identify and eliminate waste from the supply chain.
c. Conduct detailed feasibility study using component review team methodology to ensure manufacturing process will achieve Company Engineering Specification.
d. DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DMA (Design for Assembly) methodologies in support of the above.
e. Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis methodologies in support of the above.


a. Produce KPI’s / Reports into Project Management structure in support of events such as Pilot Hall, KPSK etc.
b. Produce KPI’s / Reports into Business as required.
c. Maintain company’s quality rating (VDA/TUV/TS16949).
d. Represent Purchase at Board events, if required.

Qualifications & Experience

- Demonstrable experience in Automotive Project and Supply Chain management.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and leadership skills, with ability to communicate across all levels of the business.
- Proven experience in the systematic planning and follow-up of Supplier Production Preparation activities.
- Demonstrate necessary knowledge of automotive component manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrable experience in the application of Lean and Continuous improvement techniques / methodologies.
- Demonstrable knowledge on manufacturing process capability, capacity and constraint analysis.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge and skills appropriate for the role in applicable manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrate experience in DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DMA (Design for Assembly) methodologies.
- Demonstrate experience in Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
- Demonstrable experience on appropriate manufacturing technologies.
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent education in a technical discipline / apprenticeship with Project Management/Production Preparation experience.
