Is a leading Automotive manufacturer and is currently experiencing an upturn in production with demand increasing globally.

The Role:
Scope
Working as part of a team in the SQM department within Quality, the position reports to the Senior Quality Engineer. The key objective of the role is to support supplier & part Quality Planning activities for the successful launch of new product introductions, and to actively pursue performance improvement of the supplier base.The jobholder will collaborate with all other members of the SQM team, all areas of Quality, Purchase , Logistics, Engineering and the supplier base.

Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality planning and parts maturation.
Communication of Quality requirements to supplier base.
Reviewing supplier readiness / status , reporting progress , implementing corrective action.
Liaison with suppliers & relevant product SQM Engineers throughout vehicle builds phases.
Tracking sample submission delivery dates & advising relevant SQM engineers.
Parts Quality planning and supplier process status reporting.
Identification/escalation of poor parts or supplier performance.
Timely and effective response to supplied parts quality concerns.
Reporting parts maturation status, supplier quality planning status & supplier process maturation. (2DP & capability) status to the business.
KPI & media generation for reporting.
Project & Pilot hall support.
Liaison with Project, attending Project meetings.
Advising Project’s of Quality requirements.
Supplying Project review meetings with supplier quality status feedback.
Identification of adverse trends in parts or supplier performance.
Management of supplier’s action & development plans.
Supplier liaison and control on or off site.
Liaison with suppliers on cubing and master buck requirements.
Travel to supplier’s premises.
Presentation & communication of relevant information.
Reviewing / auditing suppliers process to ensure compliance with requirements.
Review / auditing of supplier production processes to ensure capability / compliance with spec’s or as part supplier improvement activity.


Qualifications
Preferably a relevant Engineering qualification, HNC or higher. Relevant industry experience will be considered.
Associate membership of the IQA is desirable.


Previous Experience
Product knowledge in automotive interior, exterior or electrical commodities is required. This should include experience with plastic, metal, composite materials or electrical /mechanical components.
Previous experience required, knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning ( APQP ) and Production Part Approval Process ( PPAP ).
Computer literate with SAP, Microsoft Word , Excel , Project , Access , PowerPoint and Outlook.
Knowledge of Quality tools including use of statistical techniques & analysis ( SPC & Capability studies ), 8D, Pareto, kaizen, Failure Mode Effect Analysis ( FMEA – design and process ), Fault tree , etc
