The Company:
Subsidiary of major energy company, operating offshore gas fields and onshore gas processing terminals.

The Role:
The Supply Chain Category Lead is responsible for leading the procurement and supply chain management of a portfolio of categories with the objective of delivering value through engaging stakeholders, rationalising and aggregating requirements, optimising the supply chain and ensuring high performance is delivered through the supply chain.

The Supply Chain Category Lead is accountable for ensuring that the supply chain delivers the products and services needed to deliver operational objectives to meet production goals safely on the best commercial and contractual terms that improve profitability of the organisation.

Principle Accountabilities:
Ensure compliance with Supply Chain policy and process in all activities.
Ensure compliance with the Delegation of Authority.
Ensure compliance with the Standard Contracting principles.
Provide commercial leadership and support to internal customers to deliver improved commercial arrangements and improved performance / value from suppliers.
Present category strategies, contract strategies, new contracts for approval and contract extensions at a monthly contract approval board chaired by the Regional Director.
Develop benefits plan and lead delivery of improvements across the business. The plans may include reducing risk, improving service, improving HSEQ, reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) or improving key controls.
Maintain and deliver plan for introduction of category strategies and placement of contracts.
Engage with internal customers and stakeholders to review requirements and identify new requirements / opportunities.
Ensure suppliers are selected in a rigorous and transparent fashion, whilst meeting legislative and business requirements.
Lead the tendering, evaluation and negotiation process in relation to the award of contracts and agreements and makes recommendations to management, ensuring strict compliance with supply chain rules, procedures and industry codes of conduct.
Contributes to or leads dispute negotiations.
Draft contracts and agreements, processes amendments and variations and ensures internal approvals are obtained.
Ensure Supplier Management plans are in place covering relationship management, governance, KPI’s, quality, health and safety and business updates. Supports or leads supplier reviews and FPAL assessments. Develops and manages improvement plans / mitigation plans for under-performing contracts.
Ensures contractors / suppliers are managed in an integrated manner in order to achieve one team spirit and no boundaries. Identifies opportunities to develop and promote positive relationship management with contractors and suppliers, leading to partnerships which focus on creating sustainable value.
Promotes continuous improvement and high performance in all aspects of category management, contract management and supplier management.
Maintains an up to date knowledge of categories, technology, industry supply chain initiatives and market trends/pricing.
Takes ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge. May be required to mentor and coach junior members of the Supply Chain team.

The job holder is expected to be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree / HND Business Studies, Law, Project Management, Procurement or equivalent in an appropriate subject.
Able to establish effective relationships with stakeholders and internal customers.
Experience of successfully delivering major change and benefits.
Strong knowledge of contract law and experience of negotiating contract terms.
Demonstrable experience of Procurement of goods and services (with a large organisation, spend circa £15m plus).
Microsoft Office software packages.
Strong analytical / financial skills.
Good communicator both orally and written.
Strong negotiation / influencing skills.
Strong team player with the ability to work successfully across boundaries in a cross functional team.
Able to establish effective relationships with suppliers and ensure communications from suppliers and potential suppliers will be addressed promptly and courteously in order to support and enhance corporate image.
Ability to respond to a changing business environment.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Chartered membership of Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Project / Programme management skills.
Experience in a Procurement role within the offshore oil and gas industry.
Knowledge of SAP Business systems.
