The Company:
A mid-sized International Operator

The Role:
• Responsible for directing the sourcing, costing and negotiating functions for suppliers to ensure the ability to effectively compete in the marketplace.
• Monitors supplier performance and initiates corrective actions where necessary.
• Negotiates major agreements
• Research current market trends in order to maintain a world class procurement environment.
• Conducts ad-hoc analysis as requested by upper management and corporate supply chain leadership.
• Manages staff development to improve function capabilities.
• Sets and manage budgets while focusing on reducing spending.
• Identify opportunities and suppliers which result in advantage in quality, delivery, functionality, price, reliability, logistics, business-to-business integration, currencies and reduced total cost.
• Find and develop best suppliers to meet current and future requirements.
• Streamline processes and purchasing.
• Responsible for seeking total cost advantage whenever possible.
• Determine suppliers' long-term partner potential, including how each benefits party.
• Assure quality, pricing and timely supply to all company sites by global suppliers.
• Manage supplier agreements from initial negotiations through supplier development and audit activities.
• Annually develop cost improvement strategies and targets for responsible commodities. Monitor quarterly performance against targets.
• Develop and manage specific supplier improvement initiatives: especially cost reductions, engineering/ specification changes and delivery/reliability improvement initiatives.
• Work with other locations to find opportunities to leverage purchasing power.
• Provide sourcing assistance to new product development team site and local operations teams.
• Advises business leaders on developments and issues with the assigned global supply chain/SME areas.
• Expected to make positive contributions, utilizing independent thinking to develop strategies and objectives to assist the organization and strategic suppliers in achieving key financial and operational goals.
• Requires ability to identify processes/procedures required to eliminate negative impacts.
• High degree of creativity needed to challenge and change current practices.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required
10+ years in customer facing portion of oil and gas business
5-10 years in operations management
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Demonstrated leadership with the ability to gain support of other managers, staff and supplier staffs to implement change without direct supervisory control. Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff and supply base personnel.
Demonstrated performance as a change agent with leadership and project management skills.
Strong presentation and communication skills at all organizational levels.
