The Role:
Role Title :- Supply Chain Planner / Bid Coordinator
Business Stream/Function :- Procurement and Supply Chain Management
Role Level :- This role reports to the Supply Chain Manager
Location :- As required to include Derby and Sheffield

Role Purpose :-
Develop Work Winning Procurement Strategies for all projects in partnership with the Power T&D Bid Team and Estimating including Supplier Tender Lists, Demand Plans / Programmes and coordination of the provision of scope & specifications to enable suppliers to provide accurate quotations, programmes and other required information to support bids and tenders.
Develop effective stakeholder relationships to support strategies that are in line with business needs and objectives.
Assist the Procurement & Supply Chain Team in the preparation of RFP’s (request for proposal) and RFQ’s (request for quotation) by providing material schedules, specification details, drawings and scope of works.
Promote best practice procurement across the business.
Develop and maintain a master Supply Chain Demand Plan / Programme for all projects to enable effective procurement of goods and services and facilitate the aggregation of spend where possible to provide cost efficiencies.
Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to deliver the procurement process for projects and contracts (including mobilisation activity), in accordance with SSUK Procurement and Supply Chain Management Strategy and Policy.
Support Supply Chain Management generally and relevant peers groups in identifying and implementing strategies that enable continuous improvement for the service being provided and which results in Procurement being recognised as a high performing service function.

Accountabilities ;-
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with company safety rules, health and safety regulation & environmental standards and that operating procedures reflect current legislation.
Develop close working relationships with other key functions in the company and keep them aware of, and seek their views on, changes and initiatives to ensure a coordinated approach.
Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency.
Assist the Procurement & Supply Chain team to construct, negotiate, implement and manage Supply and service level agreements/contracts that achieve cost, delivery, quality, innovation, zero harm and service targets as required by the business.
Assist in the establishment of performance led, long term supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage.
Develop an excellent understanding of the environment within which allocated categories of supply operate and the risks and opportunities presented by the dynamics of those environments.
Assist the Procurement & Supply Chain team to compile data relating to supplier responses, highlighting inconsistencies and differences and presenting information to enable evaluation of responses and provision of recommendations to the Bid & Estimating teams.
Support final negotiations with selected suppliers.
Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
Support and contribute to the delivery of the SSUK Sustainability 2020 roadmap.
Deputise seamlessly for Senior Management as necessary.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Personal Qualities and Experience :-
The role will require previous experience of procurement processes and planning within an infrastructure / project based related environment.
The individual will need to demonstrate a proven track record in negotiation and process compliance.
The role will require excellent analytical skills, strong stakeholder management & commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
The ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance, is essential.
MCIPS or an interest in studying towards MCIPS is advantageous.
