The Role:
The Engineering & Project Management (E&PM) business line studies, plans and oversees the construction of the Company’s new facilities, including some of the biggest and most complex projects in the petroleum industry. Recently, Saudi Aramco completed the largest capital program in its history that included new or expanded oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, raising maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity to 12 million barrels per day and significantly increasing gas production and processing capacities. Among the recently completed projects was the largest crude oil increment in the history of the industry: Khurais, with a production capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. More challenges lie ahead, with a slate of new or expanded oil, gas, refining and petrochemical projects in the works. E&PM also manages the Company’s Research & Development Center where scientists investigate topics such as the desulfurization of crude oil, advanced fuel formulations for next generation combustion engines, and reservoir nano-scale robots (Resbots™) for injection into reservoirs to record their properties.

We are currently seeking an experienced Surveying Specialist to join the Project Management Team, which is responsible for Capital Project Execution, starting from FEED through commissioning, for Saudi Aramco’s widespread oil and gas operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Suitable candidates will manage field-based laser scanning surveys and office-based 3D point cloud processing and product generation processes. Provide technical expertise and establish and update standards in land surveying technologies, including laser scanning, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), total stations, and level equipment, as well as data processing, drafting, and management systems, including CAD and GIS. You will provide expert advice and assistance to Survey Engineers and technicians on all matters pertaining to your expertise. Other aspects include reviewing existing operations within your area of expertise to determine potential technical problems and remedies to existing problems.

You will act as Saudi Aramco’s representative in dealings with the Saudi Arabian Government relating to your area of expertise and with vendors and manufacturers. Review existing operations within your area of expertise to determine potential technical problems and remedies to existing problems. Undertake studies and investigations to resolve problems unique to the operating environment within incumbent field of expertise. Prepare standards and specifications to be used for procurement of new and replacement equipment in line with increases in technological advances, applicability and operating requirements. Prepare operating guidelines and standard procedures and other documentation for use by Survey Engineers and technicians in the solution of complex and unusual problems in the field. Keep abreast of significant developments in your specialty by constant review of technical literature, contacts with manufacturing companies, software companies, other major surveying companies, and professional associations. Conduct seminars in the resolution of technical problems and application of corrective action with personnel in Operations Services, Saudi Arabian Government representatives and contractors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Geometrics or Surveying Engineering.
Substantial experience of land surveying work is required, including laser scanning and point cloud processing, or Two years of college education or Technical school in Geometrics or Surveying.
Must be able to write technical reports concerning your area of expertise.
Land Surveyor Certification and experience in the oil and gas industry are preferred.
