The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

The Role:
The successful applicant will drive continuous improvement and provide safe systems of work across the Power Systems Businesses in the UK. You will comply with Group directives and legislation to ensure minimal accidents, injuries and minimal environmental impact across the business in the UK, its employees and anyone else who could be affected by the company activities. You will develop and implement a Sustainability focused and holistic QHSE strategy for the Power Systems Division.

• To comply with Legislation and Group Directives and ensure Local Division and Local BU Managers compliance.
• Lead, drive and implement the Power Systems Division Sustainability strategy with a holistic approach, ensuring attention given to Health, Safety, Environment, Safety and Quality, working closely with the Division Management and Operational QHSE teams across the Division to ensure alignment with the business plans and long term strategies
• Drive development of a robust Environmental strategy for the Division, including a focus on ensuring the successful delivery of projects in environmentally sensitive contexts.
• Engage with Local Business Unit Managers and their operational QHSE teams to drive the culture of Sustainability and ‘Safety Leadership’ into their businesses and agree programmes to assist with this journey.
• Adopt a ‘coaching’ approach where required with senior and line managers within the Division.
• Provide ‘hands on’ support to Operational/QHSE teams within the Business units where required, both at tender and project stages.
• Lead annual ‘Management Review’ process with Divisional Management team.
• Maintain a working knowledge of international health and safety requirements, and best practices, monitor, communicate and apply standards created and/or maintained by external bodies, and integrate within internal health, safety management systems
• Develop and manage management systems and initiatives to align with the UK and Group directives targets and objectives
• Evaluate and analyse using external benchmarking to establish common Sustainability Principles, Standards, Training, Discipline and Culture throughout the Power Systems Business Units.
• Develop, implement and monitor Divisional Certification, Accreditation and Awards schemes including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Graduate level OHS professional qualification or equivalent
• Membership of a recognized OHS professional organization (IEMA or IOSH)
• First degree in engineering or science or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience in a similar leadership role
• Strong Interpersonal and leadership skills
• Ability to influence and gain buy in from senior management
• A self-starter
• Exceptional communication skills
• Able to take strategic/helicopter view
• Ability to motivate others to change
