The Role:
In line with the group strategy to “Become the most innovative oil and gas company “ and the UIE strategy to “Sustain the Engine”, the Senior Well Engineer Design - leads an office-based team of Life Cycle Well Engineers (LCWE) to deliver on the promises made in the business plan whist putting unambiguous plans in place to achieve GOAL ZERO and TOP QUARTILE for the projects executed.

He/she is responsible to prepare plans (identify/mitigate key project risks and opportunities) according to the GWDP & rDtL principles, up to conceptual well design endorsement in close collaboration with the Well Delivery Rig Team. LCWEs leapfrog from planning to operations (they execute what they have planned). He/she ensures that his/her team provides consistent and cost-effective projects plans and that wells are designed/constructed economically and efficiently over their full life cycle to achieve goal zero and top quartile. This includes the identification and implementation of new capabilities and technologies. Besides wells project he/she supports the delivery of actions as listed in the yearly LCWE and land rig QHSE/BIP plans and supports the WELLS organisation to achieve its delivery targets.

The work-scope entails a range of land and offshore asset projects; exploration & development wells and potential future development projects (e.g. Ultra slim well project, De Wijk N2 EGR, HPHT and other new projects) .

The SWE Design provides the foregoing without compromising health, safety and environmental standards and in accordance with Statutory Regulations and Company Policies. Competence in Drilling the Limit (DtL) and Advanced Safety Leadership (ASL) techniques are essential requirements


PRINCIPAL TASKS:
* Co-develop the 5 yearly business plan update for UIE-NAM Land Asset and administer the monthly sequence updates (together with asset land and supporting organisations)
* Ensure timely delivery of optimum well design concepts and FDP projects through the GWDP/ORP process with unambiguous plans in place to achieve GOAL ZERO and TOP
QUARTILE and spelling out key risks and mitigation actions.
* Deliver on actions as listed in yearly QHSE/FIP plans
* Establish and maintain exemplary HSE management standards throughout the team.
* Identify and clearly communicate key project risk and follow up mitigation plans and provide and obtain challenge for well designs, stimulated by Deliver-the-Limit techniques,
benchmarking, etc.
* Provide detailed design, planning, cost estimation and front end cost management optimised for standardisation and within economic parameters to achieve top quartile.
* Liaise with the operational rig teams to ensure designs are feasible and meet top quartile industry performance standards.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to establish an integrated project framework.
* Motivate and coach the team to excel.

* Timely delivery of optimum well design concepts and projects skilfully applying the UI Global Well Delivery Process to best effect with key project risk/opportunities and mitigation
plans identified.

Operations
* Support to the Well Delivery Rig Team for the efficient execution of the well programmes; including work planning, application of DtL, communication, risk identification, risk mitigation and contingency management
* Contribute to challenge processes (peer and value assurance reviews and investment decisions, etc.)
* Capture learning and best practices and share these within UIE and globally.
* Support improvement efforts related to the Global Well Delivery Process and set a clear leadership example in all aspects of health safety and environmental management.

Your team will comprise between ca. 3 to 6 direct subordinates, who you will lead, coach and motivate to deliver excellent performance. You will be called upon to provide your considerable technical expertise and professional mastery to benefit both your own assigned projects and also others within clients UIE as appropriate, for instance at various project value creation (VC) workshops and peer reviews.

All personnel within the Wells Department will be trained in Well Engineering and Well Services operations and are expected to build up competencies in both disciplines. To that extend clients staff are expected to pass the Round 1&2 WE&WS competency examinations.

The SWE (CD) fulfils his/her duties in context of the Well Delivery Process working the feasibility, concept and detailed design and programming, and providing advice during execution, giving steer to the services and technology development industries, and securing lessons learnt from own and others operations, networking within Group to achieve continuous improvement and consistent top quartile performance through a learning organisation

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- HND/HTS/Graduate in Engineering or Physical Science or equivalent
-Significant experiance in Well Engineering, including assignments as Senior Well Design Engineer, Well Operations Engineer, Well-site Operations Engineer and preferably also as a
Drilling Supervisor (DSV) in the field.
- Substantial and proven competence in well engineering with R1 & R2. Experiance ideally in both the subsea and platform environment.
- Proven safety leadership and familiarity with HSE management techniques are essential.
- Candidates are expected to combine the above with a strong business sense.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, communication and facilitation skills are essential.
- Knowledge of project management techniques and working in broad multi-disciplinary teams will be required, as will an appreciation of HAZIDs, QRA and other risk management
tools.
