The Role:

Deliver validation of engineering systems and components to meet the requirements of the Project Description Brochure:
Responsible for supporting specification and validation plans to achieve the cost, weight, timing and quality targets for the project.
Support achieving engineering milestones and signoff for systems and components in area of responsibility.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Maximum of 5 relating to products, services etc.)

1. Support and Lead Design Development
Support design and development of technology in given area of responsibility. Support capture and specification of design requirements in area of responsibility. Where required, lead the engineering test & validation planning for systems and components in area of responsibility.
Support engineering release, integration step-, version- and change management process.
2. Delivery of projects
Responsible for planning project related activities throughout the complete project development. Understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business. Support interaction with suppliers for progressing project deliverables. Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation. Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering.
3. Problem Solving
Ability to solve complex engineering and design related problems. Analysis and management of multiple design related issues to identify the root cause.
Collect data, manage data and analyse data to produce reports as appropriate and progress design guidelines.
4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
Capture learning from previous experience (lessons learned). Utilise input from partners to keep up to date with latest Group developments.
5. Ability to work within a team
Able to work effectively in the cross functional team. Contribute to delivering team objectives.

Awareness of investment and unit cost for area of responsibility.

Responsible for specification, validation and testing and of systems and components in area of responsibility.

Support delivery of Body Electronics systems with the focus on switch electronics and complex control panel electronics to meet all functional targets and project requirements.
Technical input to specification, documentation, release, testing and sign-off to meet the requirements of the Electrical Engineering department.
Interaction with suppliers to meet project deliverables to achieve quality approval at Note 1 status.
Provide support to other non-engineering functions within the Company.
Liaise with Group colleagues to share knowledge.
Where possible, requirement to keep up-to-date with new legal and legislative requirements.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

Ability to liaise at various levels across the company in different forums.
Good communication skills, written and verbal.
Flexible team player.
Dynamic and proactive self-starter able to work independently.
Co-ordination and organisation skills.
Design and development skills in electronic HW and basic knowledge in SW development.
Ability to influence colleagues within area of responsibility.
Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility.
Ability to solve problems.
Understanding of Health and Safety.
German language skills preferable.

Knowledge of: design and development; test and measurement; engineering drawings; software tools.
Understanding of the Product Emergence Process (PEP).
Knowledge and hands-on experience of vehicle communications/architecture network (e.g. CAN, LIN, Flexray) and diagnostic tools.
Knowledge and experience of using Vector CANoe tools (CAN and LIN)
