The Company:
Our client, an international major oil and gas operator, seeks a Systems Administrator to join their team.

The Role:
This position is a key position in the Gulf of Mexico Offshore Infrastructure / Communications team, responsible for the following:

• Monitor and coordinate GIL updates and work with support in the GOM operations area.
• Accountable for a wide variety of IT initiatives (facility specific)
• Must be flexible, as priorities and customer demands can change quickly.
• Ability to develop positive working relationships with team members and peers. Must have strong organizational, teamwork and interpersonal behaviors. Customer Management skills need to be excellent.
• Must be willing to learn current and new technologies and their use in meeting business requirements.
• A strong understanding of multiple technologies including GIL desktop, server and networking.
• This position will need to interface closely with BU-IT teams, ITC, and Offshore Support teams while providing problem analysis and support when needed.
• Accountable for maintaining all HES / Safety requirements and training set forth by the Major Capital Project and/or GOM Business Unit

Key Job Responsibilities (essential position functions):

Windows System Administration / PC Support skills on both GIL and PCN/SCADA environments.
• Repair and/or coordinate repair of server and/or PC components that fail.
• Assist in resolving server performance issues that arise.
• Perform server security checks and assign data permissions. Review system logs to ensure the systems are functioning properly and ensuring unauthorized attempts are mitigated to prevent connections to the servers.
• Review all group memberships semi-annually to ensure proper access levels. Creating directory structures for storing data.
• Install approved security patches as they are scheduled on the servers.
• Ensure that backup systems are functioning properly and backup processes for securing data are followed.
• Properly document facility IT procedures (technical and support)

Telecommunications / Network Support (long term after Commissioning Phase)
• Trouble-shoot all connectivity issues on GOM communication systems.
• Will work with Communication techs and Network engineers to trouble shoot and repair problems.

Location(s) / Schedule(s):
• Work location for this position will be with the Major Capital Project during Design and Development phases located in Houston and Corpus Christi, TX (schedules will vary depending on project phase).
• Occasional travel to GOM offshore and onshore locations.
• International travel may be required periodically prior to the Commissioning phase.
• Position will then be located offshore Gulf of Mexico on the facility working a rotational 14/14 work schedule.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Strong organization skills will be needed for scheduling and monitoring multiple ongoing projects.
• Clear written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to learn the complexities of the interoperability of networks and applications in the operations computing environment – able to assist network engineers with firewall rules restricting/protecting data flows in the PCN/SCADA environments.
