The Company:
Our client is a major oil and gas company.

The Role:
The successful candidate will lead the development of and final Custodian of all value adding technology; Operations Training Simulator, Dynamic modelling, Alarm Management, Field of the Future Technology and other supporting systems for different projects.

The successful candidate will work within the Operations Readiness Team in the project. The Systems and Tools Lead Engineer will play a key role in assuring quality tools are delivered to enhance value throughout the client operated gas value chain, ensuring the smooth transition of tools through start up into operation of the project offshore platform, onshore terminal. The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding of all aspects of offshore oil and gas production operations with an established and proven track record in projects during the execute phase and early operations. A thorough understanding of modelling, ICSS, Alarm Management, Field of the Future Technology is essential

Key Accountabilities:

The Systems and Tools Lead Engineer role is a key position and the post holder will:
- Demonstrate safety leadership and excellent safety behaviours at all times.
- Act as a role model for health, safety and environmental commitment.
- Meet all Health, Safety and Environmental goals as detailed in client policies and Project HSSE targets.

During the Operations Readiness Phase the successful candidate will:

• Create the strategy of how the offshore and onshore OTS’s will be used in the project phase and the handover strategy after start-up to the region.
• Recruit OTS trainers to prepare scenarios, organise, conduct and evaluate OTS training program for technicians, supervisors and new engineers.
• Lead work with the Project OTS Delivery Manager to ensure that the OTS functionality is suitable for delivering the joint requirements of training, engineering assurance and operations support. This will include, at a minimum, engagement with the OTS Supplier, review of design documentation, hands-on support to the OTS Supplier during ICSS integration and attendance and acceptance of FAT/SAT tests.
• Lead work with established CRTs to continually improve the operability of the ICSS by developing, testing and assessing improvements using the OTS as an engineering tool.
• Work with Controls and Process engineers to help support the offshore asset by testing proposed hardware, software and configuration modifications through engineering solutions on the OTS.
• SPA for the integrity and functionality of the OTS system including keeping the OTS up to date and synchronised with the asset
• SPA for validation and maintenance of the operating procedures by testing documents on OTS scenarios.
• Continuous improvement of ICSS HMI to improve operability of displays and navigation.
• Continuous improvement of ICSS alarm system to support alarm management strategy
• Facilitate the Digital Security Impact Assessment and development of continuity plans to ensure compliance with GP30-60

In addition to leading the OTS work for onshore and offshore the successful candidate will ensure the delivery of the Engineering Assurance Tools that operations require. These will be tools that enhance the process safety of the plant and ensure that everything operates within its design and operating envelopes and condition monitoring is in place to refine maintenance activities. The post holder will lead the work for the operations teams delivering it through IT&S, engineering stakeholders and central teams, this will require quality, timely operations input and guidance to the development and delivery process. The post holder will also co-ordinate the operations inputs for the FATs/SATs for the tools.
These tools include: Operating Envelopes tool, Chemical Management System, e-logbook, Rotating Equipment Monitoring tools, Safety Valve Tracking Tool, Base management Tools such as ISIS and Rate and Phase, Predictive tools and Condition Monitoring tools, and integration of the Flow Assurance Model (FAMS) into the ICSS.
The tools will be put in place as appropriate for the offshore, onshore.

During time in Azerbaijan the role will:
- Lead the performance start-up testing program for the OTS
- Build team of OTS instructors and manage efficient use of the OTS for training and procedure testing and continuous improvement activities.
- Lead programme for Alarm Management and reduce nuisance alarms.
- Support commissioning teams and early operations and deliver optimum performance from process plant controls by focusing on defect elimination and by identifying opportunities to improve operating and maintenance strategies and practices.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Demonstrable commitment to high HSSE standards.
• Engineering Degree (Preferably Chemical/Process/Control)
• 10yrs+ Experience of working within the oil, gas or chemical industry on an operating site with strong understanding of the processes
• Experience of a Major Project Start-up
• Expert understanding and applications of controls systems
• Extensive knowledge of Control Room operations in particular the CRT activities using a modern ICSS
• Extensive knowledge in building and using Operations Training Simulators
• Strong knowledge of Process Safety Tools and ideally experience in configuring and deploying them.
• Experience of control of work systems,
• Experience in performance improvement
• Experience in working with vendors and performance feedback.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Strong influencing ability to engage colleagues at all levels in the organization particular in respect to Competency requirements.
