The Role:
Job Summary
"Responsible for delivering work packs and schedules to the various execution parties including Major Maintenance, Project Construction and Shutdowns. The approved work scope for The Planning Engineer will be assigned to one of the following work areas:
the Planning Team will be documented in the Asset Master Plan. "
• Major Maintenance – tank maintenance, OSI, minor mechanical repairs, MoC and plant change activities
• Projects Construction – capital project constructions
• T&I – preparation of work scopes executed during shutdowns and T&I’s

Major Responsibilities
1. EHS
• Demonstrates IIF behaviors and contributes to a safe work place being provided to all employed in the maintenance and construction activities.
2. Reliability
• In preparing work packs the Planning Engineer will review the execution history, productivities and effectiveness of the Maintenance Planning to ensure efficiency improvements are identified, developed and implemented.
3. Planning & Scheduling
• Planning Engineer is responsible for the following activities as per their assigned work area:
• Support the Lead Planning Engineer in the development of the Asset Master Plan and Long-Term Shutdown Plan which form the base scope for the AS/1 Planning team.
• Planning Engineer will review the approved work scope and ensure it is correct for the Customer expectations, safety and reliability requirements.
• Reviews and/or discussed work scope with Execution and Contractor teams in order to ensure the safe work methods, tools and practices are agreed before developing work packs and schedules.
• Responsible for preparing execution work packs, resource / manhour estimates, work schedules, materials and contractor requirement for the Execution teams and Customers.
• Constructively challenges the Contractor estimates (manhours, resources, schedules) to ensure cost-effective delivery.
• Facilitates planning reviews for major or critical work scopes to ensure all stakeholders ‘buy-in’ to the final plan.
• Facilitates the completion of the Pre-Execution checklist prior to commencing execution activities.
• During execution responsible for communicating work status, progress feedback, scope change controls and guidance to the Execution teams and Customers.
4. Contractor Coordination
• Responsible for preparing the PR/PO instructions to approved contractors required prior to commencing the work.
• Maintains a close working relationship with the Contractor planners to ensure correct communication of work scopes.
• Acts as technical contract proponent for selected maintenance service contracts as assigned.
5. Efficiency Improvements
• Conducts post-execution reviews of the Planning team’s activities to compare actual productivity against the original plans / estimates and schedules. Identifies areas for improvement in work scopes which are repetitive.
6. Customer Focus
• Continually engages key stakeholders / customers to ensure the Planning team are meeting customer expectations and, if not, ensuring improvements are made to meet them.

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technical qualification discipline preferably mechanical or civil.
• Experience: Expected 2-5 years experience in maintenance planning, 3-10 years in Petrochemical industry.

Planning, Scheduling & Optimization skills, people skills, Skill in Primavera scheduling software, ability to analyze planning and execution performance data to identify improvements, knowledge of materials, tools and equipment, effective coordination skills, contractor management, ability to use CMMS for work orders, purchasing and analysis."
