The Company:
Our Client is a first rate educational body with an end goal of educating, developing and inspiring the next generation of workers to the highest standard in order for them to enter the local working market. Our client operates in over 7 locations within Cumbria and has contributed monumentally to the local supply chain with 97% of apprentices going directly in to full time employment.

Overview

The focus of this role is to manage the Observation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) process within the company to ensure that in all future Self Assessment Reports (SAR) and Ofsted Inspections the quality of Teaching, Learning & Assessment attains a Grade 1 (i.e. Outstanding). This will involve conducting all Teaching, Learning and Review Observations across the whole organisation and to follow this up with the relevant coaching, mentoring, training and the sharing of best practice as appropriate. The aim is to ensure that a minimum of 75% of all delivery staff attain a Grade 1 (i.e. Outstanding) with a target of 0% at or below a Grade 3 (i.e. Requires Improvement) in their respective OTLA results.


Duties and Responsibilities

To work within the company’s Quality Team to improve the robustness, consistency and compliance of approach for the company’s OTLA process across the whole organisation. This will involve responsibility for the whole OTLA process which must be in line with the 2012 Common Inspection Framework (CIF) and Ofsted requirements, including any relevant changes or updates, but particularly in relation to the increased emphasis and focus on Teaching Learning and Assessment and outcomes for learners.

To successfully manage the Observation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) process within the company at all locations. This will involve conducting all Teaching, Learning and Review Observations across the whole organisation at all locations and to follow this up with the relevant coaching, mentoring, training and the sharing of best practice as appropriate. This sharing of best practice must not only include the dissemination of best practice within the organisation but encompass a cross organisational approach by liaising closely with other Work Based Learning Providers and more particularly with those participating in the Peer Review Development (PRD) forum to which the company subscribes.

To be responsible for ensuring that the OTLA Action Plans of delivery staff are appropriately and efficiently progressed to completion, particularly in relation to any coaching, mentoring, and/or training identified.

To ensure that a minimum of 75% of all delivery staff attain a Grade 1 (i.e. Outstanding) in their OTLA result. To ensure that 0% of all delivery staff attain a Grade 3 (i.e. Requires Improvement) or below in their OTLA results.

Provide effective and accurate reports on a monthly basis for submission to senior management.

Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by line management.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Teaching Qualification at or above Level 4;
• At least three years experience in a similar role or at least five years experience in teaching with first hand experience of a robust OTLA process;
• Minimum Grade C in Maths, English & ICT;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an aptitude for diligent data manipulation work using applications such as MS Word and Excel;
• Good telephone manner and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and through the written medium with staff al all levels;
• The ability to deal with staff in a professional, calm and considerate manner;
• A willingness to work flexibly and be adaptable with self motivation and diligence to fulfil the requirements of this role;
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment to achieve results against tight deadlines;
• The ability to drive is essential as frequent travel between all company locations will be required.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Suitable qualifications in English and Mathematics to assist with the required improvements of outcomes for learners in these strategic areas;
• An interest in information technology would be advantageous to help with the embedding of electronic systems such as “OneFile” and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
