The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
To provide a data-driven understanding of relevant Vehicle Characteristics and their effects on the SCS Attributes.
Produce objective Vehicle and System Characterisation Data that supports SCS Function Delivery.
This may be from physical or virtual properties.
Support the development of robust Vehicle Characterisation and Correlation methods.
These will define objective metrics that support target setting and target cascade.
Support Correlation activities of both physical and virtual vehicles, ensuring a good understanding of performance relative to target.
Support efficient SCS Development activities through sensitivity analysis of SCS Attribute and Function performance.
This will focus on vehicle variant complexity and noise factors identified in Function FMEAs.
This role will involve the testing & development of systems in various locations within the UK & overseas.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Data acquisition - Vehicle Dynamics or Powertrain System
Vehicle-level characterisation and post-processing
Vehicle Dynamics or Powertrain simulation and correlation - utilising multi-body or parametric modelling tools e.g. ADAMS, SIMPACK, IPG CarMaker
Use of analysis tools e.g. MATLAB / SIMULINK
Project Planning - Planning and co-ordination of test schedules
Self-motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision
Excellent team-working and communication skills
Minimum full driving licence to UK Cat B Note to Agencies:
This is a role for an experienced (minimum 2 years post graduation) engineer with a practical and dynamic working style.
This position is not targeting the recent graduates or the high level senior managers.
The individual will need to be enthusiastic and energetic and will have a strong 'Can Do' approach.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Advanced driving skills to Class 3 (On road) and 3PG (Proving ground high dynamic) driver training level, or equivalent.
Note: characterisation testing will be required up to and including the region when the limits of adhesion between tyre & road surface have been exceeded. Hence being able to demonstrate previous practical involvement in either a similar vehicle development activity or driving in high performance motor sport would be an advantage.
Post graduate experience in a similar role in an automotive or development environment.
