The Company:
A leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on developing its world-class reserves for domestic and international supply.

The Role:
The role is within the Upstream Engineering Team and provides Technical Safety Engineering Support, integration and assure projects portfolio from a safety engineering discipline perspective, ensuring compliance with corporate Standards and Project Management systems and processes. Defining Contractors’ BOD, scope of work and priorities; and supervising the work execution through to completion and approval.

Main Responsibilities:
• Develop a safety engineering strategy to ensure asset integrity is delivered and Safety in Design is achieved in all Upstream Projects.
• Provide Safety Engineering Support to the asset, including projects, and be the focal point for all activities associated with Technical Safety
• Define requirements for safety reviews of Upstream projects of sufficient depth and rigour to provide assurance of compliance
• Ensure compliance with the Corporate Standards in relation to Safety Engineering and Asset Integrity
• Support delivery of project Design and Operations Safety Case/s and their handover to Operations.
• Technical safety input to asset and project HSSE Strategies and Plans
• Fully support the safe, timely and cost effective delivery of the facilities which meet the required safety, quality & performance criteria:
o Major inputs to - Planning, contracts, MRs; HSSE / HSEQ performance
o Technical safety input to BOD
o Safety engineering scopes of work, specifications and data sheets
o Identification of safety critical barriers and development of performance standards
o A safe plant design in which risks can be demonstrated to be tolerable and ALARP

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Professional engineer with wide exposure to diverse technical and business environments
• Extensive safety engineering experience, including experience in oil/gas production and/or design projects
• Verifiable record in engineering and successful delivery of a number of green-field and brown-field projects
• Experience in application of technical safety engineering management practices and value improvement tools and practices
• Understanding of process facilities technical safety technologies, policies and business principles, with appropriate standards and guidelines
• Able to relate well to the assets internal and external customers – Operations, construction, procurement, neighbouring engineering disciplines
• Competent to guide, mentor and inspire other team members
• Capability to oversee and influence contractors and suppliers through design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of the project
• Demonstrable commitment to HSSE, HSSE leadership and improve

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution
• A relevant first engineering degree (chemical engineering preferred)
• Tertiary qualifications applicable to the technical safety engineering discipline are an advantage
