The Company:
Our client is international engineering and construction group and one of the UK's top solutions providers based in the North West.

The Role:
Job Title - Technical Author
Location - Cumbria

Responsible for working to the safety directions and training provided on the project.
Ensure particular attention is paid to the production of the Proof Test Instructions to make them compliant with the Safety Case and achievable within the working parameters of the interfacing plant and processes.
Include initial risk assessment information in the instruction based on the perceived significant hazards prior to formal assessment during validation.
Quality Accountabilities
Production of detailed instructions to the relevant SL procedure and template as detailed in the above stated specification.
Responsibility for planning, preparing and delivering high quality documents that are right first time and require only minor amendments from the reviews.
Adherence to document control procedure KC6733-COMM-262.
Ensure that review comments are either added or challenged to conclusion.
Ensure the document delivery programme, budget and timescales are maintained.
Ensure the support elements are used and plant areas visited to produce high quality instructions.
Ensure that the Clients Validation & Approval Check Sheet (reference SLF2.13.10.02) completed during the R1 review and validation phases remain with both the paper copy Master Document and on CIMS.
Ensure that any amendments identified during the validation process are transcribed from the Master Validation Copy to the Master Document and its revision is updated and approved in accordance with Management Procedure KC6733-COMM-262.
Provide technical support to the Clients End User during the instruction validation and risk assessment processes

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills
Good technical authoring skills with recent commissioning, maintenance or operations experience.
Familiarity with the clients document production procedures and templates.
Good standard of verbal and written communication and reporting skills.
Good IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Recent supervisory experience

Appropriate technical or engineering qualification together with significant practical experience, e.g. Trade apprenticeship with ONC/OND or HNC
