The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The Technical Coordinator is responsible for assisting the OPP Project Team discipline engineers in various engineering surveillance and progress/control activities. Activities will include the assessment of engineering documents, coordination of project document control activities, and providing progress / forecast reports on contractor activities.

Responsibilities and duties:
• Manage and coordinate document control activities between Company and the engineering contractor
• Evaluate engineering source documents to optimize alignment of plant operations documents, and assignment of engineering document numbers/titles
• Coordinate contractor requests and review process
• Prepare, issue and track document control requests
• Maintain the master document register (MDR) and any closeout actions/logs pertaining to MDR
• Establish work practices and procedures as required to facilitate task completion
• Prepare regular reports such as monthly engineering surveillance reports and drawing issue forecasts.
• Steward progress vis-à-vis the contractor’s master document register and project document control registry.
• Develop ad hoc progress reporting as requested.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Broad knowledge of engineering/design activities, document control practices, interfaces management and interrelationships
• Technical knowledge in a broad range of engineering disciplines and sound technical judgment
• Knowledge / experience of engineering design practices and documentation
• Knowledge / experience of document control processes
• Engineer / Technologist qualification with oil sands ore processing facilities would be an asset
• Experience in data manipulation and report development using Microsoft Access and Excel
• Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
