The Company:
The Major Projects HSSE & SP Team provides the full range of HSSE & SP services and support to both Upstream and Downstream projects across the globe.
The Technical Safety Team in Europe has some 15-20 staff between the offices in Aberdeen and Rijswijk and has in-house skills and tools for providing effective HSE solutions, integrated across the project lifecycle, thus creating the enabling environment for successful project delivery. The Role:
Responsibilities:

The purpose of this role relates to the planning, execution and delivery of Technical HSE for projects in the Shell Projects & Technology Europe, Middle East and Africa portfolio. Assured and repeated delivery of major Shell downstream and upstream projects with HSE risks demonstrably managed to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable), creating a workplace without harm. Preserve Shell’s license to operate.

• Accountable for delivery of effective and timely integrated HSE solutions for specific major projects
• Provision of technical HSE requirements and supporting studies (Hazards and Effects Management Process tools & techniques) relating to facility design over the lifecycle of a project and in particular the front end loading of projects
• Development of HEMP studies as key inputs to the Concept Select and Design HSE Cases (HAZID/HAZOP, Bow-tie Analysis, HSE Activity Plans and Assurance activities, major hazards assessment, Safety Critical Element identification and Performance Standards)
• Development of HSE Premises (project HSE requirements) and HSE Philosophies
• Provide HSE input to the ITT (invitation to tender) process.
• Design and implement effective HSSE-SP management on projects including management of execution contracts and contractors.
• Review technical standards (Design Engineering Practices) to ensure these are appropriate and fit for purpose in HSE risk management content.

Requirements:

You’ll have significant experience of technical safety in projects, preferably gained in the delivery of major projects within the oil & gas industry. Demonstrate excellence in communication of technical and non-technical language; both spoken and written English. Educated with an engineering degree or equivalent. An MSc in HSE related discipline such as Process Safety or Safety & Reliability would be beneficial.

Recognised as a technical expert in your field, you’ll have strong interpersonal and influencing skills to work effectively in/and across multi-functional virtual teams and interface with a wide range of internal stakeholders, customers and service providers or management. You will display a high degree of initiative, independence and be team player to deliver results through others with the gravitas to identify and understand (business) project requirements, translating these opportunities into delivering innovative and sustainable safety value solutions
