The Role:
The Technical Manager for the Itaipu-Wahoo project leads a team of experienced multi-disciplinary subsurface professionals currently engaged in the Assess Phase of field development for two non-operated, deep water, Campos Basin, Brazil fields.

The primary responsibility of the Technical Manager is to lead the team to collaboratively develop the subsurface work plan, effectively communicate, and facilitate the work effort.

The Technical Manager will ensure that the appropriate client guidelines and processes are adhered to at all times in a manner consistent with the clients corporate values. The key internal processes to be followed include Project Maturation Process (PMP) and clients Corporate Resource Management Process (MOCRMS).

It is also the responsibility of the Technical Manager to collaborate with partners, peers, Decision Executives and Project Managers to prioritize resources and ensure that workflows are implemented and reviews scheduled to support business critical decision-making.

In addition, the Technical Manager will advise on investment proposals, project management, and development of staff capabilities. The Technical Manager will also build internal and external networks within the oil industry in Houston, and liaise with peers to capture and apply industry best practice methodologies and technologies within the company.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Manage a diverse technical team (geology, geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering) in assessing two deep water pre-salt discoveries
• Develop/manage the subsurface work plan with the team
• Promote open dialogue within the team
• Advance professional development of technical specialists
• Support Maersk Oil’s technical standards and workflows
• Interact with other disciplines and partners


• 10+ years oil industry experience with significant exposure to field development studies in integrated teams. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
• Strong communication and team skills
• Knowledge of or ability to learn the Maersk Oil work processes and organizational structure
• Several years of experience in identifying and maturing field development opportunities
• High level of commercial acumen with strong general understanding of oil and gas business
• Strong networking skills externally and internally - ability to cultivate and build relationships
