The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Responsible for the conception, development and agreement of Interior Zone architecture and package for all Company products, with a specific focus on the seating and underseat zone, ensuring a robust interior concept, aligned to business objectives, as the basis for further downstream engineering development.

Key Responsibilities
1. Platform
Key point of contact for communication with Group on Interior related platform issues.
To identify and agree platform and MBK synergies and resolve conflicts
To work with project to agree platform concepts within a financial framework, for the formulation of steckbrief and TCD documents
2. Product
Responsible for the development of Interior zone package proposals, including part and system integration, plus hardpoint definition in agreement with the stakeholders,
Ensuring that conflicts are resolved in the delivery of a technically robust Interior concept that meets business objectives
Conception of new interior features to meet customer requirements seeking synergies across the company portfolio
Transparent recording and reporting of issues
Responsible for attribute management within the department focussing on ergonomics usability and control
3. Team
Responsible for the management of an internal team to agree hard point and part or system geometry for all company projects
Integrating ergonomic and validation resource where appropriate to clarify issues in relation to vehicle attributes
4. Project Team
Responsible to identify and request the appropriate cross-functional resource based on technical requirement
To be the lead for cross-functional reviews for the zone
Ensuring timely delivery of the concept through digital reviews,
Utilising the appropriate CAD structure and environment
5. Process
Responsible for proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement, and the implementation of improvements with the agreement of the line manager and all suppliers, stakeholders and customers

Graduate or postgraduate qualification in Design and / or Engineering, supported by demonstrable evidence of a personal passion for Design and Technology

Previous Experience

Track record of managing complexity and resolving technical conflict
Track record on influencing design, engineering and project decision making, in relation to interior issues at a senior management level
Ability to technically direct and manage a team, to maximise performance
Customer awareness of Higher Luxury Sector, reinforced through experience in the technical development of sports / luxury vehicles within the sector
Skill set established through use of CAD in the context of a modern PLM system, allowing detailed understanding of IT infrastructure, process and methods
Experience with integration of interior seating systems
Experience in the application of ergonomic and validation tolls in the definition and appraisal of primary ergonomic requirements
Ability to view, manipulate and construct geometry in CAD (Catia V5)
Strong MS office suite skills
Competent Abode suite skills
Understanding of the capability of both Ramsis and TheiaRT validation tolls and when to apply them


Breadth and depth of expert knowledge in relation to interior systems, architecture and ergonomics
Robust knowledge of legal requirements in relation to vehicle package and GCIE standards
Detailed understanding of all aspects of trim development and associated manufacturing requirements
