The Company:
Our client, a worldwide EPC company is looking for a Technical Safety Engineer for their engineering office in Aberdeen on a permanent staff basis.

The Role:
Working across multiple offshore and onshore projects from FEED through to operational on behalf of major operators the basic purpose of job is:

•Identify changes to Safety Case & Performance Standards and document to client. Maintain key safety drawings including e.g. hazardous area drawings, fire & gas detection layouts, safety sign & escape route drawings, etc.
•Safety Screening of project scopes.
•Participate in and/or scribe for HAZOP / HAZID studies, Design Safety Reviews, procedural HAZOP, PUWER assessments, etc.
•Chair onshore / workpack risk assessments.
•Produce engineering calculations e.g. dispersion studies and author technical reports.
•Interface with Independent Verifier for project scopes and ongoing platform verification.
•Interface with relevant Client TA's.
•Compliance with relevant UK legislation, industry guidance and Client Technical requirements. Prepare deviations from existing procedures / specifications where appropriate to suit decommissioning environment.
•Ensure that assigned scope is delivered to agreed estimate and schedule. Input to project plans and regular progress reporting.
•Pro-active interaction with DSC Engineering and Construction team members.
•Be open to innovative ways of working, ensuring efficiency in delivery to all clients. Identify opportunities for efficiency savings and/or support implementation of such.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant degree or industry qualification.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
◦Experience working with Safety Case & Performance Standards
◦Working knowledge of engineering drawings i.e. P&IDs, C&Es, Hazardous Area Drawings, etc
◦Experience in applying risk assessment principles i.e. hierarchy of controls, ALARP, etc
◦Experience in use of hazard analysis software e.g. PHAST, Cirrus, FRED is preferable
◦Offshore Survival & Medical is preferable
◦A level of work experience as a Technical Safety Engineer in the Oil & Gas Industry.
◦Good understanding of relevant offshore O&G legislation i.e. SCR, PFEER, DCR, etc
◦Good understanding of Construction activities
◦Knowledge of Decommissioning preferred
