The Role:
Support the development and implementation of the Operational HSE Cases and Safety Engineering deliverables assuring that risk levels are kept within the risk tolerability criteria and reduced to ALARP.

• Leading and delivering effective and quality Risk Assessment deliverables like QRA, HAZOP, HAZID, HAZEER, Risk Assessment etc; mainly applicable in the prevention of significant incidents, with the support of additional SMEs and Operation & Maintenance key stakeholders;
• Supporting Technical Process Safety Standards in design like Safeguarding management, including IPF and RVs (SIL) classification, modelling of risk contours, managing over pressure, determination of final relief system, temperature design issues like embrittlement, holdups of hazardous products, blocking systems, overriding, ESDs, fire protection, Flare management, , limitations of Pressurize vessels, auto-ignitions, safety distances, ignitions sources, etc.
• Supporting the identification, assessment and management of the IPO HSE risks through the application of the Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP)
• Supporting the development and production of Operational HSE Cases;
• Promoting the following of the ALARP principle as applied to risk reduction;
• Develop and maintain IPO HSE Risk Register;
• Assist in the production and revisions of Standard Operating Procedures, Operational Instructions and HSE Plans;
• Provide advice on diverse Safety issues relating to all aspects of operations, involving defining and researching issues and contributing to their solutions.
• Provide advise on Safety legislation as applicable to any aspect of operations;
• Contributing to the definition of Safety performance targets and relevant KPI’s; monitor and analyse the related performances;
• Promoting and ensuring awareness of AKCO Corporate HSE policies and requirements within IPO;
• Reviewing work completed by the Independent Verification Body with respect to Performance Standards of Safety Critical Elements;
• Promoting and ensuring awareness of HSE issues;
• Endorsing risk reduction and mitigation measures to be implemented;
• Monitor SmartTrack Action Tracking System to ensure timely closure of actions for IPO-HSE;
• Ensuring that the project meets appropriate RoK Safety regulations;
• Developing a robust understanding of relevant RoK Legislation;
• Mentor and coach Junior Staff.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The job holder must have:
• Degree in Engineering or equivalent level of qualification;
• Minimum 10 years of technical experience in the oil and gas sector;
• 5-10 years experience in Safety Engineering roles as per main Accountabilities and Responsibilities;
• Proven track record in the preparation of technical documentation to a very high standard, especially QRA, HAZOP, HAZID, HAZEER, Risk Assessment, Management of technical process safety standards in design, Safety Cases, HEMP reports and HSE MS documentation;
• Project experience in Production & Maintenance.
• Thorough working skills of HSE legislation affecting all aspects of a development project from the office based design through manufacturing, installation and production;
• Skills of technical safety issues of exploration and production activities or major Petrochemicals Facilities;
• Experience of working on overseas projects, in a multi-National and culturally diverse environment;
• Skills and Ability to lead
