The Company:
Our client is an expanding global business unit of an international group, with operations in the UK, Norway, Russia and Algeria. We are one of the fastest growing Companies in the North Sea. Since 2003, it has invested approximately EUR8 billion in Exploration and Production. Today, it holds equity interests in around 50 licenses in the UK and Norway and operate one third of these.

The Role:
The Technical Safety Engineer supports the current and future projects and operations. This position is appropriate to a candidate currently working at Principal /Lead Engineer level and requires a minimum 10 years experience, as the role acts as Technical Authority across the business. Occasional travel to other offices and sites is required.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
In order to meet the company’s HSE responsibilities:
• Exhibit safe behaviours at all times when on company property and/or on company business
• Comply with all HSEQ policies and regulations
• Apply the HSEQ Management System as appropriate to the relevant area of the business

Job Specific Requirements
• For all currently operating assets, provide technical safety support to the Operations team as required.
• For new developments support technical safety aspects during Concept, FEED and EPC phases into fabrication, construction and production activities; including advising on major accident hazards, QRA, safety critical elements and performance standards.
• Participate in any accident / incident investigation, employing appropriate recognised techniques, to ensure root causes are identified and remedial actions implemented.
• Form part of the E&P Emergency Response Team.
• Provide input to or chair HAZID, HAZOP, Risk Assessment and SIL studies as required.
• Ensure Safety Cases are prepared and maintained to a consistently high standard. Where appropriate, engage with regulatory bodies and appoint external consultants to carry out specialist studies.
• Support the HSEQ Management System and develop technical safety standards.
• Maintain awareness of relevant new / emerging regulations and support any consultation processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BSc in an engineering discipline
Familiarity with hazard identification and risk assessment techniques
Ability to oversee updates for operational safety cases and support/defend them to regulatory bodies
Proven experience in oil & gas industry
Ability to manage technical meetings, liaise/feedback with other disciplines, project management, client and regulatory authorities
Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in safety engineering in the oil and gas industry
Experienced in Technical Safety in design phases

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
MSc in Safety
