The Company:
Our client is a leader in the Energy industry. They are` an electricity and gas company that connects consumers to energy sources through its networks. As a result of a successful project award they are currently looking to recruit a Technical Safety Engineer for a major FEED study on a flagship CCS project in the UK. Our client is responsible for the front-end engineering and design, consenting, risk evaluation and full-life cost estimation for the development of the carbon dioxide transport

The Role:
The Technical Safety Engineer will be part of the Project Delivery Team reporting to the QHSE Manager

The role will be particularly suited to a Technical Safety Engineer having working in a project engineering environment on projects similar to the one to which this job description relates.

The responsibilities and duties of the Technical Safety Engineer will include:

• Ensure that Technical and Process Safety is appropriately considered within the CO2 Transportation and Storage FEED Study works
• Support the QHSE Manager in the delivery and auditing of Quality Management and Safety Management across the FEED project.
• Provide Technical Safety support and expertise to the discipline engineers within the Project Engineering Team.
• Manage and support Technical Queries and Technical Deviations.
• Attend Technical review sessions with all parties (Client, and the FEED Subcontractor).
• Attend Safety Engineering review sessions with all parties (Client, and the FEED Subcontractor).
• Participation in formal process safety assessments potentially including, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL Assessment, ENVID, Quantified Risk Assessments.
• Drafting THSE procedures and processes.
• Manage and have responsibility for the progression and completion of specific items of work.
• Identify and arrange for 3rd Party Technical support where necessary, including: -
• Preparation of scopes of works.
• Management of support services and personnel.
• Liaise with the FEED Subcontractor to ensure works being undertaken are compliant with client and industry requirements.
• Identify and communicate issues and risks.
• Support the auditing and review of 3rd party Quality and Safety Management systems.


In addition it would be beneficial if the Technical Safety Engineer had experience in:

- Transportation and Storage of liquid carbon dioxide.
- FEED Studies

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
It is expected that the successful candidate will have considerable and relevant experience in the role of Technical Safety engineering within the Onshore and Offshore Oil & Gas or similar industries in a project engineering and/or design environment..
Knowledge of FEED studies is required.
Candidates should hold recognised engineering qualifications relevant to the position.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Candidates with membership of relevant professional / industry bodies are preferred
Previous experience of the design of pipelines and plant containing high pressure carbon dioxide and/or carbon capture and storage systems is desirable but not an essential requirement.
