The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Technical Support Engineer (Electrical/ Controls/Instrumentation) - The position is for someone to work within a team to support Vehicle and component Test Rigs/cells.
Day-to-day job will include planning and maintaining service and repair of systems involving Instrumentation, electrics, control systems and data logging to support run the test rigs. Responsibilities: Will provide first line maintenance support, fault diagnosis to root cause analysis on critical plant and equipment Develop original or innovative approaches to engineering design, cost reduction, and problem solving. Will work closely with service contractor/supplier to ensure system's safety and minimum downtime with pro-active approach to plan maintenance activities.

Experienced in selection of electrical plugs, connectors, receptacles, wiring diagram, pin diagram etc. Help test engineers to understand and resolve technical issues relating to controls/electric systems. Write and update work procedures/instruction and share knowledge across the team.

3 KEY SKILLS
1) Skilled in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering (Working experience in selection/application and knowledge of the working principles of various instruments used in automotive testing such as: Thermocouple, Pressure Transducers, Strain Gauges , Accelerometers, flow meters, displacement sensors.)
2) Previous experience in in Maintenance/ Support team. (Organise and prioritise work assignments to complete assignments/tasks on time. Regularly liaison with suppliers on component specification and fit for purpose Good communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
3) Strong in technical documents writing. (Read/write Work procedures & Instructions and wiring diagrams using General Tools : Visio, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)"

Experience Required:
Degree level qualification in an Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering field. The candidate will have 5-10 years' experience in Instrumentation & Control maintenance, hold formal qualifications and be conversant with current electric/test requirements on control systems.

Experience Preferred:
Basic hydraulic and pneumatic engineering knowledge Work experience in Automotive Industry. Basic knowledge of testing and data acquisition tools (preferably worked with MTS FlexTest controllers & HBM data logging kit) Research and explore new technology and communication ie CAN/Flexray. Microsoft SharePoint user

Based at Gaydon (occasion travel to Whitley required)
