The Role:
Due to growth my client is looking to employ an Technical Support Engineer with a strong electrical / Power engineering background and valid work experience in a technical or customer support role. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of power or high voltage engineering/applications and knowledge of transformer operations. Candidates with a High voltage protection systems background would be an advantage.
You must be able to learn quickly and deal with the technical demands of working with several projects at any one time. This position will require someone with good interpersonal skills in that there is a good deal of coordinating required with external bodies (eg universities or research bodies) and also internal technical and commercial staff. In addition, there is an element of being able to work with customers both face to face and also remotely. You will need to be comfortable with discussing and presenting detailed technical issues.
An additional requirement would be for you to be commercially aware and be good at picking up new information and trends. This position will be office based with some short term UK and international travel in order to properly liaise with the necessary external bodies and customers.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Ideally you will have a degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• You will have significant knowledge or experience of power or high voltage engineer/applications
• Strong experience in a technical or customer support role
• A proven track record of communicating on technical issues with both internal and external staff

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• A Chartered Engineer and member of relevant professional body (or working towards same)
• Knowledge/Experience of transformer design & operation will be an advantage
• Knowledge of high voltage protection systems would be an advantage
