The Role:
Responsible for the IT support of business unit wide Landmark technical systems. Responsibilities will include top tier user support, installation and version standardization planning, IT facilitation of the evaluation of new and incremental releases of technical systems, facilitation of knowledge sharing among the IT and user community, and management/interface with technical systems vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

● Participates in the evaluation of current software and hardware and recommends appropriate upgrades and new purchases to satisfy the needs of the Exploration, Production and Drilling departments.

● Confers with Geologists and IT personnel to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input and how data is to be summarized and formatted for reports.

● Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer scripts.

● Studies existing procedures to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve production or workflow as required.

● Plans and prepares, or otherwise makes available, technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of geoscience applications.

● Delivers presentations to IT and geoscience personnel about new, emerging technology that relates to geosciences and development.

● Upgrades system and works with vendors and IT development group to maintain system after implementation.

● Collaborates with others to develop, test, install, and modify scripts.

● Maintains applications with patches and upgrades as needed.


No supervisory duties.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in geoscience, engineering or computer science. Prefer a minimum of 5 years related work experience supporting scientific and technical applications typically found in oil and gas exploration and production companies. In this position we are specifically looking for support with our geoscience applications so experience with the following is required: Landmark Openworks, Landmark Seisworks, Landmark Geoprobe, Petra, Petrel, and Hampson Russel. Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in enterprise scale project management. Working knowledge of PC, Unix and/or Linux operating systems and experience in technical systems data integration and business case development desired.
