The Company:
Our client is a leading global oil and gas operating company.

The Role:
Develops and maintains user and technical documentation and project process documentation. Composes technical documents, manuals, bulletins, brochures, publications, training manuals, and special reports. Organizes and coordinates the composition of material and drafting of forms suitable for reproduction. Reviews and edits prepared material and illustrations. Develops and refines material for publication. May oversee the writing, editing, publishing, and distribution of specification documents. May review various resources and prepare analyses or summaries. Analyzes requirements, develops source material, consults engineering and technical staff as a subject matter expert. Includes operational specifications, bulletins, articles, service manuals, and marketing publications. Typically requires three to seven years of experience. Under a moderate level of guidance and direction, builds knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers. Requires knowledge and experiences in own discipline. Solves a range of straightforward problems. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.

Process Operations Technical Writer

Overview:

The Process Operations Technical Writer works with the Capital Project Organization (CPO), designated Facility/Drill Site Project Operators, Kuparuk Operations Compliance Specialists, and the Kuparuk PSM Engineer to develop and/or update Standard Operating Procedures and supporting documents. The position is responsible for drafting the operating procedures for new equipment and/or systems from information obtained by various sources (e.g., construction/engineering documents, PHA’s, current SOPS) for handover to users upon project completion.

Responsibilities may include:

Attending weekly project meetings
North Slope travel
Conducting Training
Assisting Project Engineers with training
Walking down process lines and equipment

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
2+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent degree
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Process Operations experience or minimum of Associate degree in Process Operations or comparable field of study
Knowledge of SAP
Well-developed planning and organizational skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent computer hardware and software skills
Must be able to set priorities and follow through on assignments with limited supervision
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to excel in a fast-paced environment
Manage tasks to effectively and efficiently complete work responsibilities of self and others
Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments
