The Company:
Our Client is a Global Operator in the Oil and Gas Industry. This role supports our client's project's in Iraq and is based in Iraq on a 28/28 rotational basis.

The Role:
Main Job Function:

To review and approve the specification, engineering design, supply and installation of Telecommunications equipment in onshore production facilities, ensuring that it meets project objectives, industry standards and best practice for safety, reliability and cost.
To provide assistance on Electrical and Automation discipline areas during the rotational period on site where the Telecommunication eng will alternate with the Electrical/Automation one.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
The job holder is responsible for :
• Supervising and directing Engineering Detail Contractors and Equipment Manufacturers/Suppliers during the execution of design, procurement and construction activities of the Telecommunications Facilities, ensuring the quality of the works, according to the contract requirements are met.
• Evaluation of the systems and equipment being proposed in terms of proven technology, operability, maintainability and suitability for use in the specific location working conditions.
• Presentation of selected solutions to Company Management and Partner Specialists and obtain their endorsement where required
• Leading the identification, creation, and/or adoption of appropriate Telecommunications standards, with appropriate consideration of the Iraqi national standards and norms if applicable.
• Ensuring a smooth and effective transfer of data and information between Contractors and between Contractors and the Company.
• Optimising installation and construction activities / sequences, minimising cost and safety risks.
• Acting as a technical authority on Telecommunication activities, for example, reply to formal Deviation/Concession Requests issued by contractors and where necessary act as coordinator in resolution of technical issues.
• Assessing capabilities and limitations of detail design contractors and incorporating in development planning and risk mitigation processes.
• Participation to technical integrity activities and reviews/audits.
• Providing technical support on the engineering, constructability, operation and maintenance of Telecommunications equipment and systems to other Disciplines.
• Ensuring that the Telecommunications facilities integrate with control, safety and electrical systems and existing project and national infrastructure.
• Advising on telecommunications equipment standardization, availability, and sparing philosophies

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The job holder must have:

• Telecommunications or Engineering Degree.
• Demonstrable experience and proven track record in Telecommunication Engineering, specifically related to front end engineering, detailed design, delivery and operation of Oil & Gas projects.
• Demonstrable experience and proven track record in onshore oil & gas project related Electrical and Automation Engineering activities.
• Fluent English.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The job holder must have proven:

• Excellent technical capabilities as an Electrical and Telecomunication Engineer.
• Ability to define contractor scope of work and review work progress and reports.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills to include formal report writing, formal presentations and the ability to work with a wide range of people from a multi-cultural and multi-functional environment.
• Full understanding of HSE importance in planning and executing projects. Proactive approach to HSE issues and safety/hazard management.
• Demonstrable working knowledge of relevant technical codes and standards within the Telecommunication, Electrical and Automation engineering disciplines.
• Ability to introduce, challenge and effectively integrate innovative technology.
• Problem solving and decision making.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
