A major international oil and gas operating company.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
o Support the IT Manager in the development of the telecom strategy and roadmap and lead the delivery of a wide array of Strategic and tactical telecom plans engineered outside of Iraq but ultimately deployed in-country in Iraq.
o Manage the progression of a portfolio of complex, multi location, multiple vendor telecom projects; monitor progress, measure and report high level performance and take proactive remediation steps when required. Ensure that project teams and other IT operations teams’ in-country are also fully engaged with the project.
o Develop and maintain excellent relationships with a very diverse group of stakeholders, including JV partners, users, vendors and ITC service organizations.
o Govern and direct telecom operations and support activities in-country, through the local telecom team and vendors and ensure the stability and reliability of the telecom infrastructure in-country. This includes and is not limited to:
• Transmission Systems (Microwave, Fiber, Wi-Fi, GSM etc)
• Portable Radio Systems (VHF, UHF etc.)
• Telephony Systems
• SCADA Systems
• Broadcasting and Public Address Systems
o Act as the local point of escalation for the business for unresolved telecom issues,
o Ensure delivery of Vendor services within agreed financial plan and work with Client representatives on future requirements and ensure that these are factored into future financial and program plans.
o Accountable for end-to-end Vendor management, including;
Contract governance, change and delivery assurance
Contract performance & dispute resolution
Service fault escalations
Code of Conduct
o Another key accountability of the Telecoms Manager as a key senior member of BP’s ITC team would be to act as a coach and provide guidance to IT staff in-country and help develop local telecom capability in the country.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
o A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Systems / Telecommunications and/or an MBA in Information Systems would be advantageous.
o Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
o Seven to ten years of experience of telecom infrastructure and operations management
o Strong Operational skills, with a bias for action, and a good understanding of all IT technologies
o Excellent relationship management skills - core to this role is the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with users, vendors and IT&S service organizations.
o Project management expertise – proven track record of managing a portfolio of telecom projects including complex, multiple vendor projects and services
o Experience in managing change and business process improvement.
