The Company:
Our Client is a global Energy Leader with a strong commitment to Honest and Ethical Business Practices within the Oil and Gas Industry. Our Client operates as an independent energy company. It has four segments: Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Energy Marketing, and Chemicals. The Oil and Gas segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas, and related products.

The Role:
 Safety - Role-models compliance with HSE policy . Ensures that all activities are planned and conducted in compliance with HSE policy

 Leadership - Manages the team to produce results through effective supervision, coaching and allocation of work. Communicates effectively and consistently role models our Client's values. Readily accepts accountability and insists on it from others

 Financial - Manages the team in order to deliver budgeted outputs and costs. Effectively manages resources within their control, minimises waste, and risk, and raises potential budgetary issues as soon as they are identified

 Technical/Functional – The Telecoms & Network Support Team Lead role has a number of operational/leadership accountabilities:

 Supports, manages and leads the Telecoms and Network Support Team. This will include working at any of the company locations onshore or offshore as required.
 Leads or participates in projects as agreed with Manager, IT Operations.
 Ensures that the Telecoms and Network Support Team are able to meet business, resilience and security needs with respect to the stability of the existing systems as well as the provision of new services as agreed with the business. This includes identifying training and allocation of available resources in the most effective manner.
 Manages the selection, planning, implementation, upgrade, operation, control and maintenance of the data, voice and network security systems. This involves working with the IT Network service and project teams in Calgary as required.
 Ensures that equipment maintenance contracts, documentation and onsite spares meet the business needs and expectations.
 Adheres to the company call management process for the resolution of problems and assigned to the Telecoms & Network Support team. Coordinates all work assigned to the team queues.
 Adheres to the Company change management process in the communication and coordination of changes that impact any Company production computing systems.
 Adheres to all agreed SOX and IT procedures and controls.
 Acts as the overall telecoms & networks design authority for Europe. There is a separate dedicated role of offshore telecoms design authority. The Team Lead supervises the offshore telecoms design authority.
 Ensures that sanctioned and approved IS projects are managed using the Corporate IT Project Management Methodology with appropriately documented Project Charters, project plans, steering committee reviews and regular status reporting. Ensure the appropriate gate reviews are performed and an operational readiness assessment completed for material projects. Complete all projects on schedule, within budget and in accordance with the project objectives and scope. Ensure continuous improvement through post project reviews.
 Manages and co-ordinates vendors.
 Participates in the IT on-call rota and manages the Telecoms & Network on-call team rota.

 Collaboration - Collaborates effectively with other teams, and actively encourages individuals to build networks, share knowledge and participate in joint problem solving activities

 Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Manages work in line with our Client's project disciplines and takes every opportunity to consider alternative solutions in the light of lessons learned. Enforces the effective use of knowledge databases

 Capability Development - Coaches team members to develop personal capabilities and enhance the technical capability of the team. Supports the personal development of individuals and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning

 People Processes - Delivers people processes in a commercial and positive way that demonstrates a commitment to the spirit of such processes. Encourages individuals to engage fully with related activities and delivers outputs in a timely fashion

 Performs other duties, completes additional tasks and supports ad hoc projects as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Information Technology degree or equivalent.
• Prince 2, PMP or similar project management training and certification preferred.
• ITIL service management or similar training and certification preferred.
• ‘Offshore certified’ i.e., having completed an OPITO approved offshore survival course, all other mandatory training and also a UKOOA recognised medical.
• CCNP, CCDA or CCNA certification or equivalent.

• Previous related experience in managing a Telecoms or infrastructure team.
• Knowledge of network switching, routing and wireless principles and network and telecoms systems design.
• Knowledge of firewalls, filters, and network perimeter security principles and systems design.
• Knowledge and experience of the installation and configuration of data network equipment (such as Cisco, Nortel, Checkpoint, Juniper, Bluecoat, Aruba, Riverbed etc).
• Knowledge and experience of the installation and configuration of voice network equipment (such as Mitel and Avaya).
