The Role:
Primary Purpose of Role
To perform the component, system and/or integration testing of new and enhanced products, systems and applications with appropriate supervision. This typically could involve a range of functional and non-functional testing.
Key Elements of Role
 Production and review of test scripts from functional/technical specifications
 Identification of data requirements to support testing
 Preparation of test environments
 Execution of tests in a manner that minimises cost, time and undesirable impact
 Raising of issues, defects, observations as necessary to highlight errors in the system under test
 Retesting defect fixes and regression testing
 Communication of problems and issues to the project team in a timely manner and of a quality to ensure fixes are resolved and turned around in a short space of time
 Reporting on test progress and escalation of key risks and issues
Qualifications / Competencies / Skills
 Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field
 Self-motivated, tenacious, curious and creative with good attention to detail
 Numerate and accurate, capable of self-checking and managing own workload
 Understanding of software development lifecycles and software testing principles
 Ability to seek out and grasp how the software will be used by the end user
 Comfortable progressing with ambiguity or uncertainty
Knowledge / Experience
The following experience is highly desirable, but not essential for candidates
 5+ years of software testing experience within a professional software development environment
 Comfortable using TFS (Team Foundation Server) & MTM (Microsoft Test Manager)
 Systems integration experience
 Experience of Agile methodologies
 Knowledge of Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases
 Experience of database scripting
 Grounding in Microsoft technology stack
