The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
My client is looking to recruit an experienced Test Engineer to carry out system testing and material proving activities on Substation Automation and Network Management systems

Key duties will include:

• Set up test equipment, simulator configuration and wiring connection schedules
• Relay Secondary Injection Tests on various protection relays and schemes
- Differential Protection (RED670, P545, REL561)
- Distance Protection & Schemes (REL531 or REL670)
- Backup Protection and Bay Control Units (REC561, REC670)
- Bus Bar Protection (REB500, HiZ BBP)
- Transformer Protection (RET521, RET670)
- Connections Protection (REB670)
• Overall functionality tests on multi bay systems, protection and control (Delayed Auto Reclose, Auto Switching, Sequential and Auto Isolation, Intertrip / Backtrip, ATCC etc)
• Configure OMICRON OCC files for Automated Relay and System Testing, including IEC61850 Modules
• Performing customer witness tests on secondary protection, control and communication equipment
• Drawing markup, verification and cross checking
• Fault investigation, post fault analysis, mal-operation diagnostic activities
• Carry out “point to point” wiring checks and panel pre-delivery inspection
• Carry out Applied Voltage Withstand Tests.
• IED checks, inspection and reassembly
• Assist in Quality Assurance and logistical events
• Support other System Engineers in the design process.
• Support Commissioning Engineers on site.
• Carry out FAT to demonstrate system compliance
• Act as safety buddy to visitors

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Electrical engineering related education or the equivalent (HNC minimum qualification)
• Ability to read and understand wiring and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to understand configuration of IED protection relays.
• Knowledge of secondary Injection equipment and Protection Testing Modules (OMICRON)
• Strong IT skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Knowledge of site commissioning processes
• Strong design capability and experience in the NG engineering discipline of Power System.
