The Role:
The Rig Engineering Sub Sea Low Out Prevention Equipment (BOPE) Specialist will report directly to the Rig Engineering (AGT) Team Lead and is key member of the Rig Engineering (AGT) Team.

The Rig Engineering Sub Sea BOPE Specialist will be responsible for the oversight and influence of repair, maintenance and operations / optimization of Sub Sea BOPE equipment in collaboration with the Drilling Contractor, Equipment suppliers, company’s Procurement Supply Chain Management (PSCM) and the company Rig Reliability and Maintenance (R&M) Team.

The Rig Engineering Sub Sea BOPE Specialist is the primary source of technical advice to the Technical Authorities - Engineering, the Wells Managers and the Wells Engineering Authority.

The Rig Maintenance Specialist will assess the processes and systems in place, and to interface with the Drilling Contractor on potential improvements.

The role requires close alignment with the well operations teams in Baku and client's personnel in similar roles in both the North Sea and Gulf Of Mexico (GOM).

• Technical specialist for Platform and Mobile Drilling Units (MODU) asset (including contractor) working in Azerbaijan
• Monitor, coordinate and ensure scheduled preventative maintenance in compliance with timing and standards, both safety critical equipment and standard equipment. Ensure and challenge scheduled preventive maintenance and its schedules to align with the business cost and production strategies. Prioritise safety critical issues and implement expedient solutions.
• Serve as technical specialist for future new builds and equipment upgrades
• Advise the Wells Team Leader and Engineering Authority on issues relating to technical integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Review and consult on all management of changes relating to their work fronts – BOPE, repairs and maintenance.
• Optimisation of maintenance planning to remove as much as possible from rig critical path activity.
• Identify weaknesses and inefficiencies in the current rig systems, equipment and recommend cost effective repairs / upgrades / replacements as identified by studies.
• Directly responsible and overall supervision of the third party verification engineers supplied by third party vendors for Mobile Operating Drilling Units operations.

• Interface / work closely with client's Vendors / Suppliers and Drilling Contractors to implement agreed solutions and optimizations.
• Liaise directly with Global Wells Organisation (GWO) BOPE reliability team.
• Manage Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of all new rig equipment for existing rigs.
• Responsible for the review of all revisions of company engineering technical practices
• Work closely with Well Operation Specialist on all BOPE (dry and wet) issues
• Participate in hazard identification / operations and technical assurance processes with the ACG Region single point of accountability for the documented close out of all rig maintenance / equipment related audits and support the Operational Teams on all audit close out actions as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Diploma in Engineering or other related Technical discipline
• Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years total relevant industry experience.
• Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years offshore experience.
• Candidate will be required to make frequent offshore visit to our mobile drilling installations.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering Degree Bachelor of Science (BSc) or equivalent
• Experience of developing and implementation maintenance strategies.
• New build facilities experience
• Rig Audit experience
