Our client is a Global Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group inside which you’ll find an incredible range of expertise and opportunity.
They offer their clients a complete range of skills and services so that they can work with their teams right from the earliest ‘ideas’ stage of their planned investments, through the study or concept selection phase, the front-end design, the EPC phase, and on into the commissioning and start-up phase.

The Role:
Our Client currently has an overseas assignment opportunity for a Training Manager from October 2014 for a role in Kuwait. The assignment duration will involve between 36 and 48 months in Kuwait where you will be responsible for training issues and deliverables on a project at all stages of the project scope.

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) is implementing a major project, the Clean Fuel Project (CFP) which comprises the upgrade of two existing refineries. The Clean Fuels Project is a major upgrade and expansion of the existing Mina Al-Ahmadi (MAA) and Mina Abdullah (MAB) refineries. The objective is to increase the overall throughput by 264,000 bpsd to 800,000 bpsd and to increase conversion of fuel oil to higher value products to meet expected market demand and specs for low sulphur content transport fuels.

•Monitor and support the EPC Contractor in development and delivery of all training deliverables for large upgrades at two world scale refineries
•Oversee a small group of Training Coordinators in monitoring the overall design, delivery, competence assessment and tracking of all training required by the Client as outlined in the Scope of Work
•Foster a consultative and open relationship with all EPC contractors, Client representatives, Client training personnel, supervisors and trainees ensuring each group has an opportunity to be a part of this large undertaking
•Oversee the delivery of the scope of work requirements, with respect to the EPC, Licensor and Vendor training deliverables while promoting a teamwork environment and having the Training Coordinators as the primary points of contact for the group
•Manage Training Coordinators work scope and direction by monitoring the preparation of objectives, lesson plans, trainee reference documents, competency assessments and timetable and ensure all training is delivered to meet Client requirements, schedule and budget
•Manage the process for preparation of training plans by meeting with EPC contractor training personnel to establish a training plan for the entire project timeline, plus identifying training needs with EPC contractor, Client and Company managers and supervisors
•Oversee the Training Coordinators in the monitoring and assessment of training and learning objectives, lesson plans, trainee assessment tests and timetables
•Establish a process for monitoring the effectiveness of Offsite training required at the Licensor and Vendor training locations
•Monitor and report on EPC, Licensor and Vendor training progress against objectives, and identify ways to improve overall training effectiveness
•Manage overall training records and information systems in consultation with the Client using new or existing filing systems and computer reports
•Ensure the working environment is maintained in a safe state for all training activities, while following Company, Client and EPC procedures regarding fire drills and health and safety inspections

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•A successful career path in the energy sector in similar roles, with proven relevant experience gained through project execution within a major multi-national contractor, operator or global consultancy
•A substantial track record in overseas environments, especially the Middle East, is preferable
•A range of recognised qualifications gained in the Training Management field
•Proven strong character and self-motivated individual
•Proven ability to engage in effective dealings with both client / owner and detail design contractors
•Must be able to work with the minimum of supervision and be technically strong
