Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
We are looking for subject matter experts to serve as a Principal Engineer and provide outstanding technical leadership to our team of professionals engaged in substation electrical engineering and design for major electric utility clients.

As an Electrical Engineer, the successful candidate will be engaged in T&D and/or substation electrical design from the initial conceptual / feasibility study and cost estimating phase through detailed design, installation, and startup phases. As such, you will work with our team of electrical engineers and designers engaged in delivering the electrical and physical design and installation of new and modified T&D lines and/or high voltage substations, systems, and equipment. The work may entail preparing of high, medium, and low voltage substation (up to 500KV) drawings including one line and three line diagrams, physical equipment arrangement plans, grounding and lighting plans, and defining protective relay and metering schemes for high and medium voltage busses and transformers. You may also be engaged in preparing high, medium, and low voltage substation equipment procurement, installation, and testing specifications, bid documents, bid evaluations, and contract management. Projects many include integrating sustainable energy generation power sources such as solar photovoltaic and wind turbines to substations.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• M.Sc in Electrical Engineering complete with current professional status preferred; or BSc in electrical engineering, with power systems courses required
• 7+ years of professional experience in electrical T&D and/or substation electrical and physical design.
• Familiarity with substation (up to 500KV) design deliverable experience including single line diagram development, protective relaying and metering definition, advanced power system analysis, physical design drawing development, grounding and lighting drawings and calculations, and equipment specification and procurement..
• Working knowledge and experience with applicable software such as ETAP, EDSA, SKM, and CDEGS
• Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC/RFC as well as applicable NFPA/NEC codes.
• Superior user of related computing products such as Microsoft Office and Project Scheduling and modelling software
