The Company:
Our Client is a Leading Global Operator in the Oil, Gas and Energy Industry. This role supports our clients projects in Iraq and is based in Iraq on a 28/28 rotational basis.

The Role:
Role Synopsis
Reporting directly to the Transport Manager and working as part of the wider Business Support Team the Transport safety coordinator is responsible for maximising the performance and efficiency of the project Operating Organisation’s transport operation. The Transport safety coordinator is primarily responsible for the day to day management of Transportation Occupational Health and Safety Programs and is a key position in cultivating the project’s safety culture.

Key Accountabilities
• Ensures all vehicle operators are current with safety programs and practices
• Provides regular reports and updates to management staff of transport safety department efforts, training efforts, incident history and other required information
• Conduct timely, monthly safety meetings including recording of minutes and employee attendance
• Attends all joint health & safety committee meetings
• Conducts all related occupational health and safety audits to ensure compliance with company regulations
• Ensure that all safety manuals, programs, policies and procedures are current and meet the needs of the project operation whilst complying with current relevant legislation
• Assists with the development and communication of safety policies, procedures and manuals as required
• Communicates positive safety communication messages through a variety of media (posters, safety flash etc.)
• Conducts safety related training sessions
• Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all employee occupational health and safety records in relation to driving duties and driver training
• Maintain accurate records of all related occupational health and safety training delivered
• Reviews transportation related incidents for determination of cause and preventability, identifying potential trends to be addressed in future training efforts as well as ensuring that retraining and appropriate corrective action is issued
• Responds to operator incidents ensuring appropriate collection of information, documentation of events and reporting per project policies
• All other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent knowledge of transportation occupational health, safety and training.
Three (3) Years managerial experience in a safety and/or occupational health & safety role, preferably in transportation
Developing and implementing transportation processes and procedures.
Driver and vehicle safety standards.
Good practical and technical transportation industry skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence people at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations
Fully conversant with VOSA publications offering best practice advice.
Able to summarise general procedures for managers to ensure compliance with transportation safety regulations. VOSA or equivalent government regulated body qualification in motor vehicle inspection and construction and use regulations
Strong written and verbal communication skill
