The Role:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (key tasks/services for which incumbent is responsible)

•Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, P&ID's, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
•Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
•Confer with Maintenance Personnel, Engineers, Operations and other personnel to develop and implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
•Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
•Conduct research that tests and analyses the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
•Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
•Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
•Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of repair and installation, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.
•Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
•Works closely with Vendors and Suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of work or component
•Develop and implement rotating equipment maintenance and reliability strategies with the aim of optimising maintenance programmes and delivering reliability improvement
•Develop and implement an integrity assurance process for rotating equipment with the aim of addressing Ageing and Life Extension Inspection Program concerns with respect to ageing equipment, obsolescence and continued safe operation beyond design life
•Work closely in trouble shooting reliability impacting events with critical rotating equipment
•Develop and implement a defect elimination process and a root cause failure analysis process with the aim of ensuring repeat defects and repeat failures are eliminated
•Develop the technical scope and work with supply chain management in the development and implementation of a contracting strategy for strategic rotating equipment support contracts focused on turbo-machinery
•Act as the technical focal point for projects with the aim of ensuring equipment selection complies with relevant technical standards.
•Formulate Rotating Equipment 7 year operating plans and 7 year maintenance budgets.
•Develop asset improvement plans for rotating equipment with the aim of removing equipment vulnerabilities and addressing bad actors.

Strong technical knowledge and experience across all types of rotating equipment in upstream oil and gas focused on turbo-machinery including:
Development and implementation of Equipment Reliability Improvement program
Development and implementation of Equipment Integrity Assurance program
Development and implementation of Maintenance Strategies
Experience in establishing and setting technical standards within an operational environment
Experience in trouble shooting and solving complex technical problems
Proven track record in establishing a culture of defect elimination
Strong analytical capability and a demonstrable understanding of risk management:
A proven track record in the development of equipment operating plans and formulating maintenance budgets across a 7 year period
An ability to develop equipment improvement plans through detailed analysis of historical reliability data and through the identification of equipment vulnerabilities
Ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams to explain complex technical issues in an accessible manner, to support operational and project management decision
Ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of people
Ability to provide strong technical and personal leadership within a multi discipline environment

10 + years in Mechanical Engineering role supporting Petrochemical Manufacturing.
Has developed and implemented Maintenance S.O.P.s, Operation S.O.P.s, Equipment Manuals, etc. Vibration Analysis/Troubleshooting experience with turbo-machinery.
Excellent at root cause failure analysis and working with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Vendors and Service Representatives to troubleshoot and solve problems.
Has proven track record of improving rotating equipment reliability. Proven ownership of field equipment, including overseeing repairs, installation, and successful start-up and monitoring methods.
Experience working in natural gas compression or related facilities.
Experience in both maintenance activities and design engineering is preferred.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are critical

A Degree in an Engineering Discipline
Local engineering accreditation
Current offshore survival, medical and MIST certification is desirable;
Must be able to demonstrate continuing personal and professional development;
Can explain learning and training experiences, both formal and informal.
